Mumbai: coordinated terrorist attacks, westerners targetted

Was taking the piss I admit but patronising, well prob not, but thats for others to decide

Tho I realise that we cant rule anything out, it does seem rather unlikely - if for no other reason than Bal Thakry loves the Oberoi - cant see it happening
Its fairly certain that they were Majhadeen, those that are already dead - as they dont seem to have made great deal of effort to save themselves but just take out as many as they could
Most likely also their Kasmiris
Lashkar being the likely organisers, pakistan govt I doubt are directly involved, but the ISI set up the group so they carry some of the "credit" - equally the sudden refusal of the head of the ISI to go to India does exactly what the killers were after - more snubs to India while proving to Zardari et al just how weak they are.
I think the unravelling this will cause in Pakistan will actually in the shirt term be larger - but could equally mean that retard LK Advani gets to be Indias next PM - hes no Vajpayee so it'll be shit

Fair enough but I do find it interesting that the Indian Home Minister has resigned....unlike Rummy or Cheney or any of the others in the US.

Wrong thread there I think BM...altho that global research place is also running 'CIA Ran the Indian Killers' as a story elsewhere as well...

Yep, the Global Nutjob seems to think the CIA did it
Though why they'd need to use people when they have all that holographic projection equipent they haven't used for a few years just lying around like.....:D

1Oh yeah, cos the Yanks are selling nuclear tech to India, Pakistan will rollover will it? Idiot

Civilian nuclear technology EVEN though India didn't sign the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty AND has a nuclear weapons programme.

Pakistan cannot attempt to compete without aid from USA, China or Russia.

That ain't going to happen.

2 Testing your knowledge, it couldn't be the Punjab - Panch Ab - Land of the Five Rivers - add a river of blood, no longer the Punjab - Chahab - doesn't have the same weight, does it?

What has this to do with the topic? You're the one quoting Enoch Powell?

Everyday there are tragedies. Doesn't make them worth any less. :(

3There had NEVER been a united single country of the size of that controlled under the Raj - it only got that big as a result of piecemeal additions and conquests - modern India has huge problems stopping various parts cesseding back to their original, independant status. So it would have been impossible to have just waved Cheerio and left everyone with a smile on their chops - though I agree, that Mountbatten was an utter twat

The past need not be the future. As I'm sure you'll agree.

As a coup de guerre it's another masterwork from the kinds of minds that brought us 911. They chose a high profile target, the sort of place almost every media muppet knows, and ensured the horror and agony went on for days, with much media hysteria and death porn..
Too right. Compare the coverage of this with that of Nigeria where twice as many died over the same period. :(

The assumption that many are making is that a unitary state for the majority of the subcontinet is the only solution - thats the current situation, but that is very recent

All sides have suffered. We, the British, really fucked up independence.

It could have been a lot worse.

It could also have been a lot better. If the Viceroy had known that Jinnah was dying of lung disease (died Sept 11th 1948) he would have had valuable intelligence to possibliy forstall the creation of Pakistan and therefore save the sub continent from excess deaths.

Entirely unconnected
That'll be the Bodo Liberation Front - want an independant Assam and are not Muslim
They in their turn are supported by Bangladesh
Who also support the Khazis ( I kid you not) who want independance for their homeland in the Khazi Hills - they are manily Christian
Bangla support seems to be based on a desire to fuck India over in any way they can - odd really, as they wouldn't exist without the Indian Army (71 an all that)

There are Jihadis in Bangla though - lots of bad things being done to the Hindu minority there
The Jihadis in both Pakistan and Bangladesh (which is getting Madrasa'd up big time over the last few years) are supported by Saudi money

Follow the money if you want to see who pulls the strings

Really?

What have you been reding? The back of cornflake boxes?
If he was so caring, why did he move the date of Independance FORWARD?
Congress were horrified, there was no way anything could be done in time. Wavell the previous Viceroy was also utterly opposed to the plans of this self seeking twat who had simply been parachuted in an knew fuck all about India.
I suspected he was sick of finding Nehrus pubes stuck in his wifes teeth and just wanted out

Atlee told him to do it.

hehe Khazis :D

Thanks for the little lesson there,I knew none of that stuff :) I usually skirt round all the "facts" and "things that are actually important to the story" and make my own view,it's good to read what's what now and then. :D

Labour briought the date forward but then Mountbatten brought the date forward again when appointed Viceroy iirc.

I dont' think blame can be totally laid at Mountbatten's feet. He was dealing with a skint government in London under financial and American pressure to offload the Indian subcontinent, fractious groups in Indian politics, Jinnah's doctor hiding the notes about Jinnahs terminal illness, inter communal atrocities. He didn't have the easiest time of being Viceroy. He made cock ups but it could have been worse and it could have been better.

Zachor, your timelines out but I dont have the time to go into it.
Back to topic
Indias Muslim leader refuse burial for the dead terrorists

Even refer to them as demons

I'm not sure that I entirely buy that: the British have used partition as an expedient means of settling disputes that they caused through divide and conquer tactics. Northern Ireland and the Middle East are useful examples.

As I expected, here comes the wave of anger..
 :(

With less than a fortnight gone after the terror attacks in Mumbai, young Mumbaikars are seething and in a mood for unilateral, aggressive action, whatever the consequences.
