Microsoft 365 subscription changes

FYI. Standard 365 annual subscription was 69€. They automatically changed it to 99€ without telling me. I'm due to pay this in October. New functionality includes AI. I have no idea what AI would do.

But if you go into your account sub settings you can change it back to "classic" 365 without AI and back to the normal price. I would assume this invisible change is illegal but I don't think that matters anymore. Just be warned and change it back, unless you actually want the AI.

Libre office is also free and I find it has more functionality than open office. I think it's an updated version of open office, but I may be wrong

I'd use other options if I could. But work necessitates using official MS. Just don't fancy paying 30 bar for AI, especially when I'm not even told about it!

i heard this was coming....one of my jobs pays for Office so Im not fussed myself...am actually quite curious about the AI functionality as if it does what I've heard it can do it will save me a lot of time doing boring spreadsheet filling tasks.

I keep getting an alert on my old Hotmail account saying I'm running out of storage, 84% capacity, and need to buy some/upgrade. Except between Christmas and New Year I deleted at least 10k emails and searched specially for big files and deleted most of them. And now my email account is at 86% capacity.

I managed to buy a copy of Office 2019 off some shonky site here where you get a license key for peanuts that mysteriously works on the official files downloaded from MS, perhaps fiddling some student deal. Has updated fine ever since.

The issue with most of these options is you'll still need to pay for cloud storage, unless you've got a very good backup routine as this price includes OneDrive.

That said it would still be cheaper to move to Google and get a dodgy key.

LibreOffice here, too. I was really supposed to have Office for work but have never had a problem with compatibility with Word or Excel because it can store in Microsoft formats. Even with complex documents with lots of Track Changes it's always worked 'seamlessly'.

Google workspace is great imo.
