Those travel shows would be interesting whoever presented them though (within reason). Ripping yarns was good but Monty Python was unfunny shit for dickheads.

Yeah I met him a couple of times. I got him a honey lemon & ginger tea when his throat was sore, he was appreciative. Never anything but a pleasant guy.

No. He has a certain charming way of interacting with people
No. Some of Python was poor, some brilliantly funny.

He filmed a show in a house on my street. He was here for about a week, but I never saw him.

I remember on one of his travels the only way to wash was to take a shower.

But the shower involved getting naked and in a shed where a bloke then hosed you down with a hosepipe of cold water.

Fair play to Palin, he did it, and live on TV also

Has to be in my top 5 favourite programmes ever. I have it on DVD and get it out to watch every now and then - it really was just utter brilliance from start to finish.

It was on tv recently and I saved it to the box.
Brilliant series...and not just touristy. The episode where he gets served a snake for dinner and they bring it out onto the restaurant floor and skin it alive in front of him was pretty gruesome.

It wasn't a cozy, pretty, comfortable travel show. His experiences were very real and you got the sense that he was up for anything.

I would have loved if Michael Palin and Keith Floyd had made a travel / food programme together.
It would have been organised chaos but highly enjoyable.

There aren't many memorable scenes from Python that don't feature Michael Palin.Better than Clees imo.
