I dispute this map. For a start Eastern Europe and Latin America have a big metal scene and from that map you'd think it was wall-to-wall mariachi and balalaika bands.

per 100.000 peeps ... I guess because Latin America is very populous compared to Scandinavia?

All the French kids when I did the exchange thing in the 80s were into "arrrrd rrrrock"

Either the X Factor or Pop Idol's Finnish franchise had a heavily rotated TV ad featuring a metalhead playing a flying V on top of some lonely fell. It wasn't ironic either.

not these days, they are producing some of the best metal at the moment. most of the metal i listen to is french - Alcest, Austrasian Goat, Les Discrets.

brazil puts out tons and tons of metal these days but i've not come across many i like. but i'm very picky when it comes to metal.
