MAYDAY - a great new magazine

Refused as Fuck. does the sXe thing in your tag mean 'straight edge'? Only asking as i was looking at a 'straight edge' website the other day out of interest as i'd heard of it on myspace but didnt really know what folk who were into it believed in.

It was nuts.

Nobody in the NE will trust a man who doesn't have a drink:D:hmm::D

I thought this threaad should have the magazines contents!

Advertised on the front of Mayday magazine there is The Tribe of Wombles, Autonomous Anti Fascism, 1967-2007 a Socialist review, and a large founding statement; Introduction - Open Letter to the movement.

Inside as well, there is a review article about wrecking and a good book called "the wreckers"(!) - as far as I know the first @/left article to tackle the subject that was huge news for a fortnight earlier this year (the Napoli was beached in Devon), and a great Ian Bone article on the history of football, corporate media and Jade Goody talking about the new cultural environment.

BUTCHERS - did you read the polemic - 'Reading Autonomist Marxism Politically'?

I know you will have, but what do you think of it?

Mayday is a well put together mag in terms of style and also forward looking content, with much political potential... my quick review;)

Well somebody out there must think so too - or in a contrary way - or have a postive but less enthusiastic approach....

Having sold out at the Anarchist bookfair in london, and at the Durham working class bookfair.

Has anybody read this excellent new magazine so far and what do they think of it?

Is it full of boring historical/theoretical bollocks or is it funny and interesting like Now Or Never or CW?

It's boring as fuck.

Only the boring get bored:p

Its a magazine which is politically exciting - and also the best from the libertarian milieu. No competition I know but there you go:D

Covering issues such as Wrecking (Remember Napoli and Branscombe Bay?) which most have ignored and it is also not afraid to identify movement/group shortcomings. Mayday IS looking to creat something better than what exists, cos what exists is nowhere near good enough.

We shall cover The Tribe of Wombles article now - please put your opinions about that article here everybody.

Inc. Butchers - or are you cowardly still?

Butchers still hasn't got a brain, so I will say that it is a good article, covering social conditions the length and breadth of the UK. For some reasons politico's do not often ground their theory in real places and things people can associate with. This article does not fall into that trap.

All in all "The Tribe of Wombles" is a great article on class composition and the Wombles and their organisational context in the early 21st century -

A 'Tribe of Moles' for our time, and not that of the been, never has been, and gone.
