Alright alright. I confess. For a coupla years in South Wales I went huntsabbing on saturdays, around 20 years ago, up before the crack of dawn... So do you stand any chance of knowing me blaggy? I never went to national HSA stuff then though, the only time I went to national HSA stuff was around 2000.

I've also been to Stonehenge:D when they let you close to the rocks, again circa 20 years ago... and Earth First gatherings. :D but then I have also met the chief execs of the Countryside Alliance, and have been to their game fairs:eek:

The cuddlesome cubs say: "Thank you, Dr Attica. Thanks for all the praxis."

Now, what about those parking meters? They don't smash themselves, you know.

I was a sab in the early 90's (91 - 94ish) with Sheffield then Wolverhampton then Birmingham sabs. Unlikely to have known you if you were doing it 20 years ago.

I remember the Rich at Play article - good stuff iirc. How come you're such a cock on here Attica?

Blaggy - I really am not bothered what people think of me here - i regard forums as no better than pub talk, and so I allow myself to push the boundaries and explore ideas.

If you want finished perfect product NOBODY on here does it and I mean that most sincerely folks, that is the realm of Hard copy and where you will find what I really think, do, achieve, practice etc... Not here.

Attica is right. Having some sort of event / get together is a good idea. A few years ago there was the Bradford 1 in 12 club bookfair. I think it petered out because the same people were organising it and burned out. That is a shame. It might be good to hold something at the opposite end of the year to the October Anarchist bookfair, (= April May?) and outside London somewhere.

Outside of this there were various smaller events like the Hebden Bridge 'Height Gate' conferences / meetings with just a few people there. Adopting this pattern would mean that maybe the way forwards is for a small group of people to get together, from slightly different backgrounds or strands of the movement, and just mull things over whilst drinking a few beers, without that much of an organised agenda or programme ?

yes, that's what my understanding of 'The 'Ra' is too.

However I have read on another thread that they appear to be putting on some sort of show at the opening of the Olympics so i just wanted to check.

Cheers. Of course it is a GREAT idea. Projectile is on in late May 2008 again I believe, in Newcastle, the Anarchist film festival, with meetings and a bookfair. Rather than the London Bookfair, with meetings and films. Try the Projectile website for announcements but I know the first meeting to organise it has already happened.

I like the sound of this.

Other people may have other discussions in mind. BUT, have you seen the Mayday magazine yet Steve?

A way to organise a drink among the different groups would be to organise meetings around a theme, such as, but not limited to, 'a discussion of the contents of the new 'Mayday' magazine'.

Cos certainly the contents are important enough and merit careful consideration. It is not a magazine which can easily be written off, or put safely and nicely into a category so that 'orthodox' thought can continue as before within the status quo.

Are they being paid?

Yep, probably going to be May 2008 - pretty much chosen so that its half a year away from the London bookie. Planning is at the sub-fag packet stage at the moment, but we'll get a more definite date out soonish.

It's how they got the planes I wanna know and doesn't having military aircraft contravene the Good Friday Agreement ?
I think questions should be asked in the Commons...

oops that was a freudian slip he he :D .. no i wrote 'why arn't you in the iwca' first and then added 'ra' before it later .. (ra being red action) .. without taking out the 'the' .. :)

.. link being load of west mids sabs joined RA/IWCA at this time ..

I thought this threaad should have the magazines contents!

Advertised on the front of Mayday magazine there is The Tribe of Wombles, Autonomous Anti Fascism, 1967-2007 a Socialist review, and a large founding statement; Introduction - Open Letter to the movement.

Inside as well, there is a review article about wrecking and a good book called "the wreckers"(!) - as far as I know the first @/left article to tackle the subject that was huge news for a fortnight earlier this year (the Napoli was beached in Devon), and a great Ian Bone article on the history of football, corporate media and Jade Goody talking about the new cultural environment.

Attica,
I haven't seen the magazine. I came away with a handful of mags at the book fair but didn't see Mayday.

Taking up an earlier part of this thread about Steve's small get-togethers. The 1 in 12 Club is hosting a Weekend of Anarchism in Bradford 17/18 May (it's on the announcement thread).
On the Sunday there is a day-long seminar for Anarchist writers, publishers and designers. This seems an excellent opportunity for people to get together and work out things like distribution, mutual aid, design, advertising, regional bookfairs

I can send you a copy of Mayday if you wish?

Have you seen Bread and Roses? The IWW magazine? There's an article on a bookfair in the latest issue...

I'll see you in Bradford:D

Dear Attica,
This is mildly embarrassing. My IT skills are so abysmal I'm unable to work out how to send a PM successfully. Sorry.
