Police line streets after huge fight outside Walthamstow Central station

just saw on a friend's facebook that the fighting is continuing up bell street, police helicopters and sirens all over...

the vid looks a bit "see you at the tube station after school" but still would be pretty shocking to passers by.

I walked through the beginings of it this evening. It was Monoux College vs Leyton Tech, or something. There were hundreds of kids running the streets, helicopters, police lines etc. Seems to have calmed now.

It looked like an all female fight on that clip!

It looked *exactly* like a girl fight that got out of hand on the playing field in 1984 in my Yorkshire hometown. Started with two girls, ended up with the spectators piling in. Police were called, we were in the local paper and the headmaster called an assembley so he could bollock us.

Compilation of footage. Gather it went on for nearly four hours. Reportedly there was a smaller fight involving 100 people outside the Macdonalds in Hoe Street on Monday. Lot of speculation that the catalyst was a fight between two girls - one from each of the sixth form colleges involved - who had been dating the same guy.

Hair left on the pavement afterwards.

It's the older bit, now a conservation area, round St Mary's Church. It was the heart of the original village before the railway opened up the development of the area at the start of the last century. The name long predates any 'yuppification' bullshit although needless to say it has been seized upon. In the '50s I went to the infant school in it
