The 'fairy tale' feel in films is very magical.

For example, 'Shirley Valentine' seems a fairly lightweight piece of froth but if you watch it as a fairy tale (not as a piece of realist film-making) it becomes a beautifully magical film.

Years late I know, but Joe versus the Volcano is magical in every sense of the word. It's the most fantastic of the Hanks/Ryan films. I have to watch it at least once a year.
