I'm intreieged by this as well. Looks like it pulls no punches about issues of personal responsiblity either. From what I can gather it does say that some people will be shit whether they are in a hovel or a palace.

started reading it, was gonna start a thread, interesting, very bleak, dealing with child abuse, drug abuse, petty theft, violence, alcoholism....

written in the bristol dialect, which i guess would make it more difficult for a nonhayseeder to read , as i'm from those parts it was strangely comforting to read a book in a familiar accent...
