Looking for comedy in the Muslim World

...is a film due out in January, and yes, it really is called that.

hmmm...judging from the trailer it looks a bit shaky PC-wise - the announcer begins with 'Millions of Muslims around the world hate our guts..' and nearly all the Muslims in the trailer seem to have some connection to terrorism ('I was the funniest guy in my explosives class') but I'm going to wait till I see it to pass judgement. Islam is an area thats rarely if ever covered in Hollywood so it will be interesting to see how well they do it.

...why, if it's a film about looking for comedy in the Muslim world, is the majority of the trailer set in Delhi? Okay, there are Muslims in Delhi, but I wouldn't describe it as part of "the Muslim world".

Dunno, it looks like an excuse for lots of the usual jokes, a romantic subplot, you know, all the typical ingredients. I have a feeling it will be more bland and formulaic than actively insulting.

Er, you wouldn't call the nation with the second-largest population of Muslims (after Indonesia) and with the Taj Mahal, etc, long history of Mughal rule, etc, part of the Muslim world?

Sure, in the south it's virtually all hindu, but in the north Islam is definitely a substantial part of the make up of India.
