London pub recommendations

I need to meet a friend tomorrow in a decent pub that won't be too hectic, the last working week before Christmas!

Any suggestions? Must be central-ish or somewhere off the Victoria line or near Liverpool Street.

Avoid near Liverpool St.
thats good advice, though i went here the other day and liked it a lot
good range of indie drinks on tap and nice atmos on an old alley

Ah, I noticed you had good suggestions on the Soho thread.

Yeah in that area I'd suggest Bradley's Spanish Bar round the back of Tottenham Court Road tube station (in a side street just behind the station).
It is tiny mind you so depends what time you are getting there in terms of whether you might be able to get a seat.

We were supposed to be meeting in Farringdon but I think it will be too mental.
Think everywhere will be, just LP pubs have way more than their fair share of tossers.

There are a few decent pubs in Commercial St if you can be bothered walking there but they'll be really busy (and probably too cold to be outside).

We recently went to a bar in St Giles Hotel, Bedford Ave, just off Tottenham Court Road. It's open to the public, but cos it's in a hotel most people wouldn't think to go there. It had a decent atmostphere and wasn't too busy.

I wonder if VICE still own that place? Anyone know?
You're thinking of the Old Blue Last. Different pub entirely.

They did do a piece on the Blue Posts last year after some shitty Tik Tok nonsense

my mistake! blue and gigs made me draw conclusion...

i do wonder if they still run it though..

I know people advise against Liverpool at but I like the Golden Heart, Commercial Street. It has an old feel about it and can usually get a decent pint in there.

OK so the immediate after work crowd are likely to have gone home by then. I'd go for somewhere near Victoria itself, on the basis that it isn't a cool evening destination, just an after work commuter drinking place.

Also we could walk over a bridge if indoors was too awful.
Got any suggestions? I really don't know pubs.

Does it have to be a pub? Round there I reckon your best chances of getting a seat and being able to hear each other is the bar at the Curzon cinema.

How about Fitzrovia?
Green Man on Riding house st
Or nearby the King's Arms, or Crown and Sceptre
Or thefew around Charlotte street and Newman street

Or try to book a bar table here (Vauxhall):
