Thankfully still free, Brixton's biggest weekend is set for 18th-19th July. I can't wait! Who's going?

If you're looking to trade, you need to get in quick.

To whet your appetite, have a trawl through the Lambeth Country Show photo archives, 2003-2014:

Two long term urbanites - who really should know better - are having a wedding on the Saturday, so I can only make the Sunday.

Definitely going. Where can I get the list of craft competitions? Was going to see if my niece and nephew fancied a go at making a cake.

I think the craft competitions are run by the same lot who do the official flower, plant, and veg competions - something like the West Norwood Horticultural Society? AFAIK you have to send a SAE for this year's booklet, and the contact details should (I love using that word in a Lambeth context) be in local libraries.

Edited to add: I've just checked their website and there are no details up yet for the LCS competitions, although they've got the pdf for their summer show (which'll be in September).

Between 1990 and 2008 I went nearly every year. Haven't been since I left Camberwell though! Seriously considering coming this year, depends how the other half feels.

Saturday July 18;

ODYSSEY – The glory days of top vocal group Odyssey, one of the most successful soul disco acts of their time brought you hits such as ‘Native New Yorker, ‘Back to my roots’ , ‘ Looking for a way out’; and topped the charts with ‘Use it up and wear it out’.

Hopefully they will delight the child in me and also play...

Can't wait! :cool:

Looks like I will have to go both days :thumbs:

Sunday July 19 – Roots Reggae Day

KENYATTA HILL of CULTURE – The legacy of Culture lives on for reggae lovers with Kenyatta Hill live from Jamaica bringing all the solid Culture hits of the 1970’s – 1990’s such as ‘Two sevens clash’ and ‘Mr Music’. Kenyatta is noted for his electrifying performance and high energy.

MISTY IN ROOTS – With a career spanning four decades Misty is one of England’s finest reggae groups and was one of the most powerful acts to emerge from 70’s London playing a important role in the Rock against Racism movement. The combined talents of this cooperative group will offer an uplifting righteous musical celebration.

Woohoo, can't wait. My 5 year old is a massive fan of the knights but his favourite last year was the after-party in our garden, complete with lots of drunken adults to play with him.
