I see JP has passed at the age of 93. One of the great British television comedy writers, Dads Army, It Ain't Half Hot Mum, Heidi Hi, You Rang M'lord.... in testamount to him I see that Dad's Army was still showing on BBC2 on Saturday, nearly 50 years after it's 1st appearance; says it all really.

while a great fan of dad's army, i believe its continued repeat success in part due to the paucity of great sitcom writing in this country these days.
