JERUSALEM -- A gunman entered the library of a rabbinical seminary and opened fire on a crowded nighttime study session Thursday, killing eight people and wounding nine before he was slain, police and rescue workers said.

It was the first major terrorist attack in Jerusalem in more than four years.

Hamas militants in the Gaza Strip praised the operation in a statement, and thousands of Palestinians took to the streets of Gaza to celebrate.

I wonder if this is a new tactic?

Well, it gets to the problem at root. If both sides kill each others young fundamentalists the young fundamentalists won't grow up to be old fundamentalists.

Of course, this won't actually stop the killing, due to the constant requirement to keep on killing.

Perhaps some sort of secular equalitarian society might help.

So to solve the problem of people being indoctrinated you kill those being indoctrinated?

If there's one things events in the Middle East can teach us, it's that killing people solves problems - although it generally has the effect of creating a newer, even worse bunch of problems.

No it doesn't it deals with the symptoms of the problem not the root causes, which will only be solved when the killing stops.

Yossarian: Herodians were only part Jewish, but your comment had me laughing.

Bluestreak:" What makes you think those murdered kids were even fundamentalists? Most Charedim within Israel, religious Jews, do not even accept the State, so the attack was pure and simple mass murder.

In the same way that heroin solves all sorts of mental problems?

OK, an example - in WW2 the use of force against Germany was being applied to symptoms or cause?

Both, which is one of the reasons why it gets on my nerves that some people hold it up to be a "good" war in comparison to the "bad" wars we're presently involved with. No war is "good" just that some wars may prevent a greater (for want of a better word) evil.

And now we wait for Israel to carry out collective punishent, and i confident that more than 8 Palestinians civilians will be killed and maybe an additional maybe 3-4 terrorists.

What do you mean 'wait'?

The IDF has been bombing the fuck out of Gaza for weeks now, even more so than usual.

Selamlar: Israel only began its shelling of Gaza within the past 2 weeks. Qassams however have been falling since and before August of 2005 which is when Israel handed the keys to HAMAS. They made their bed, time to sleep in it.

Nino: Nice ducking the issue. Furthermore, nice of you to take a thread focusing on 8 dead Israeli youth, victims of terror, and turning it into an ego-fest. Par.

Me? "Ducking the issue"? LOL!!!!! Nice bit of projection from one who routinely dodges, ducks and weasels out of answering points put to him.

Now how about answering Grandma Death? There's a good chap.

Sorry Nino, this will be my last post for a good week or so, maybe a bit shorter, hitting the road. You will have to manage by antagonising another lucky person. Just try and get your facts straight. Good wishes.
