I can't help but suspect that the demonstrations have been hijacked by a crowd whose intention is to subvert the protests and use agent provocateurs to use the BLM movement as an excuse to impose even more authoritarian rule.
The one thing that really opened my eyes was when the President Lincoln statue was vandalised. No BLM demonstrator would have done that, it could only have been carried out as an attempt to discredit, remember the Zinoviev letter?
In a way they can't win, the whole thing was probably hijacked from the start.

There is quite a lot going on, perhaps the lies are another tactic to cause disinformation and divide and rule.
The pictures of the Lincoln memorial in Washington are obviously fake and likely another disinformation tactic by the right.
I was referring to the one in London however.

You haven't made a mess of explaining it so much as coming out with a common unproven load of bollocks that is common currency among conspiracy 'theorists', so don't be surprised when it raises more than a few eyebrows.

I disagree, I don't think it's a stretch for someone to be supportive of BLM and have a reason to do that to a memorial to a US president. Look at what happens to statues of UK PMs and war memorials here on demos sometimes.

i disagree. i think there are valid reasons for defacing memorials to lincoln, as this huff post article suggests HuffPost is now a part of Verizon Media

however, defacing the statue on the grounds of lincoln's racism would really rile liberals. so there are very good reasons for not unveiling that particular idol's feet of clay

further to this post, lincoln didn't emancipate the slaves for the moral decency of the thing, but because of the effect it might have on the course of the war. it was a political and military calculation.

I certainly agree that there are good reasons to both vandalise memorials, and to shatter a few myths about precious ol' Abe (yes, unsurprisingly, he was a racist).
However, the point is that just about every American, white or BME, are indoctrinated from early school years that Lincoln was the great hero of emancipation, and them vandalising his meorial is about as likely as them firebombing Ebenezer Baptist Church in Alabama

Things getting well rough in Portland.

It appears that there have been violent attacks and robberies on passers by, which then gives fuel to the anti BLM and republicans as its a democrat controlled area.

Looking further into the below story a trans woman was violently robbed, this guy stopped to help her and him and his partner were attacked. He tried to drive off but was attacked and crashed. He got out the car and was duffed in and finally booted in the face as he sat on the curb knocking him out.

The violent protesters in Portland continue to discredit the BLM movement. Tonight they set fire to a county office building not too far from me. What a bunch of assholes.

Police declared a riot in Southeast Portland after at least 200 people marched to the Multnomah County Building, threw rocks through windows and started a fire inside the office for the 82nd night of protests in the city............the group started lighting dumpster fires and throwing rocks through the building’s windows. By about 10:20 p.m., flames were running up curtains hanging near cubicles inside of the building after protesters threw lit newspapers through the broken windows.

Minutes later, Portland police arrived at the scene and declared a riot. Officers pushed people out of the street and sprayed pepper spray.

A march started shortly after 9 p.m. to the Multnomah Building on SE Hawthorne Boulevard and Grand with people chanting “No cops. No prisons. Total abolition.”
An online flyer also encouraged people to go to Laurelhurst Park earlier in the evening for “shieldwall and frontline practice.”

I disagree, I don't think it's a stretch for someone to be supportive of BLM and have a reason to do that to a memorial to a US president. Look at what happens to statues of UK PMs and war memorials here on demos sometimes.

I know this is all verging on tinfoil hat territory but agents provocateur are obviously used by the state and they are an excellent way of discrediting direct action.

The defacing of the Cenotaph ages ago at the Reclaim the Streets demo when Churchill got his mohawk always seemed pretty dodgy to me. The Daily Mirror ran a full front page with blown up images of the people seen doing it with a "FIND THE GUILTY BASTARDS" style headline which they returned to the next day. I remember thinking, I wouldn't want to be in their shoes, they'll obviously be caught and suddenly, on day 3 -poof! - nothing. No campaign, no photos, no headlines, no one ever brought to justice. Almost like someone had made a phone call and called it all off.

I wouldn't for a minute deny that there's always the chance of some idiot wannabe trying to earn anarchist superhero status by attacking a monument - although there's fuck all of them really, you do just need one - but to completely squash any attempt to catch them? They're not exactly going to be high-value intelligence sources if you let them run. What other motive could there be except that they were state actors?
