Horsey nonsense

There must be lots of good riders out there. Would Zara have got on to the team without her Royal connections?
She is an ex World Eventing Champion and was due to compete in both the 2004 and 2008 Olympics but her horse was injured. She has also won medals in European Eventing so I think in this case it is due to skill rather than connections :)

Two horses, this morning..

A whole thread about Frankie Boyle's comments the other day about the swimmer who looks like a dolphin, yet no reaction to these posts. What's wrong?

I hope we're not all getting so sensitive that we can't take the piss out of people's appearances. David Cameron gets depicted as having a condom on his head every day in the guardian and there's no outcry either.

dressage is about magnificent control and trust between rider and horse. It shows how much they train and trust each other, and is a true test of equestrianship. Unfortunately it can be a bit over the head of the non horsey person.

Or it's posh people showing how well they can control and exploit another.

Grow up. My mum competes in dressage, it's her life's love. She's definitely not posh. Yes it's an expensive hobby (just ask her husband), but she's made plenty of sacrifices to pursue it.

I'll defend your right to say what you like and be judged by it. I think it's a bit poor to mock people's appearance though. It's not something they have much control over.

Rebecca Adlington is an athlete. Zara Philips is a toff who can afford a really good horse and thus wins things sometimes.

Not necessarily. This place in brixton is a notable exception.

Oh yes, there's lots of ways to ride if you haven't got cash but eventing costs money. Just getting your horse to events (and paying the competitor's fee) costs.

Yeah, I'm sure you'd be just as good as her if you only had her horse

So apart from the elitism, general tofffery and animal exploitation. What's not to like about dressage?

Yeh, the horses get treated very well. Mum also takes retired race-horses in sometimes, who would otherwise be knackered. They can be retrained and spend a very happy and long life.

So that leaves your main complaint being about elitism and general toffery :)
Where there are toffs, they will have children you know, can't stop em breeding I am afraid !!

Police horses get treated well and then given away to posh people when the plod have done with them :D

I downloaded a video once (By mistake obvs:oops: ) where a horse was getting treated very well by it's owner.

Just because your old squinter likes poncing around on horses sometimes, it does not make you an authority on fucking dressage.

Just like police dogs. How well they are treated.

You asked a question. You don't like the answer.

No, I'm not an authority on the sport but I probably know a leeeeeeeetle bit more than you about it, having grown up with it a constant presence in my life.

I always had you down as working class:hmm:

Have you ever been tempted to wear your mums dressage outfit? ;)
