Highlander's on tonight on ITV4

Fanboy?

lol probably. I do like the way the end 'special effects' are reminiscent of Forbidden Planet, so yeah...I probably am.

(don't get me started on BladeRunner though)

According to Wikipedia it's been remade with Vinnie Jones playing the Kurgen.

And that wipe from Parking Garage, to the the Scottish Islands is the coolest transition since the Dissolve from the Paramount Mountain to South America in Raiders of the Lost Ark.

Was the guy who played The Kurgen the same chap who plays the baddie in Cobra (which was on last week, a much underrated part of Sly's 80s ouvre)?

e2a - no he wasn't, altho I'm loving Clancy Brown's CV...

Ah ha, NIght Slasher was in fact Brian Thompson, who has an equally great geek boy CV

They both tend towards playing big, scary fuckers

Clancy Brown was awesome as Brother Justin in the criminally underrated Carnivale.

 One of my 1st video I got with my wages at Bejams.

You talk funny Nash Were you from
Lots different places.

Are you a faggot Nash
Why are you cruising for piece of ass

:D

good sound tack too Queen

Yes. Yes it is.

A Frenchman playing a Scotsman, while Sean Connery plays an Egyptian with a Spanish name. This film is barking, and brilliant.

It is brilliant, who cares if it's critically derided post pub entertainment?

It makes people laugh and they enjoy it; where's the harm?

I do feel embarrassed to say I quite liked Highlander

The idea of immortality, and they can magically pull out the sword from anywhere when apparently they didn't carry one in the first place :)

While compound Internet opinion tells us that it's now cool to hate Avatar, in the real world it got pretty good reviews. Highlander on the other hand was considered a joke then and it still is now. It's a classic for those who think film history started with Star Wars.

Like so many shit films of the 80's it's of nostalgic value to a generation who grew up with shit films like this one. :)

How dare you:eek:

You'll go to hell for that:mad:

Ramirez is one of my best impressions. "You are immortal, Highlander. You cannot die!"

Ace film.

The scene in the church is brilliant. "Forgive me Father. I am but a worm" (licks hand).

I wouldn't want to be charged with the responsibility for re-booting Highlander. The trend is to go all dark and serious, but it needs to be fairly camp to make much sense. If it gets all gritty and realistic you are much more likely to watch and think 'Would a chainsaw work? What about being cut in half? Landmine?'

mmm, wrt dark and gritty I think they'd need to lay off that. Re-casting heroes as dark past having haunted men, tortured by the might have beens etc. is all well and good (it only really works with batmans internal struggle against Lawful Good/ Chaotic Good imo). But grit would ruin a new Highlander as badly as if they commissioned The Darkness to do the soundtrack.
