The Windmill is in danger of closing.
Not only is this the best venue in Brixton, it is the best small venue in London, and is famous around the world as an important and exciting spawning ground.
Tim Perry is a peerless promotor, with an excellent ear and a grounded and generous attitude. Seamus and Kathleen are the landlords, and they run the place with respect to punters and bands alike. From local folk music nights to secret big band gigs, every night is a school night at The Windmill. Pay a fiver on the door, pay bar prices for booze and see four bands that you'll want to see again. Prog, hip hop, punk, electronic, spoken word... Kate Tempest, Fat White Family, Dexateens, Tim Tan Yen, Damo Suzuki, Hot Chip, Stereolab, and everyone you've never heard of too.
We can't lose this place. We can save this place before it passes into mythology and legend.
There was a crowd finder campaign in the first lockdown but (so I hear) most of that went directly to the landlord because fuck capitalism. So they need more money to stay afloat right now.
Here's the crowdfunder site, which is still active (I think...)
