Help me think of something to do with this awkward storage thing.

I have one of these:

http://www.ikea.com/gb/en/catalog/products/80107974/

And I can't think what the hell to do with it. It doesn't fit in any drawers, I can't nail it to the wall, and it's too big to just put on a surface. I don't know wtf I was thinking when I bought it to be fair. I live in a small flat, space is at a premium.

So help me think of something I could do with it. It has so far briefly been a doll's house but it's not quite right for that, bit boring. I tried to use it for small toy storage but because of Bizarro Toddler Rules for some reason it's NOT OK and VERY UPSETTING to store different types of small toys in the same thing.

I don't sew or knit so it's not needed for yarn or anything. I just keep looking at it and thinking it must be good for SOMETHING. I know if I sold it, I'd immediately think of something genius I should have done with it.

Please help me stop expending so much mental energy on this.

could you leave it on top of the wardrobe to gather dust for a few years, and then throw it out when you have a clearout? that's what i'd do. :)

Already been done. I discovered it in a wardrobe clear-out last week. I sold the shredder, stool and tape player I also found.

If it's sturdy enough, on its side as a lo-fi dolls' house/fire station/orbiting space commune/whatever.

Which just so happens to be a convenient place to store toys when they not taking tiffin/putting out fires/circling the Earth :hmm:

Snip the inner webs where they meet the sides, then turn the sides down, and voila! a stylish hat with space for a tennis ball in the centre square.

ETA: Damn, beaten to it by a marginally more useful suggestion.

Sadly, our bed is a divan. I didn't want a divan. It's still a sore point.

I've got a divan. We'd bought a wooden frame but our very expensive mattress was sagging on it so we replaced it. : (

It has absolutely nothing to do with wolves hiding under beds. No siree.

Nope.

If you ever have 9 bottles of wine/spirits it'd stop them clinking together. If the squares are the right size obviously, but if toilet roll fits in them they may be too big.

food cupboard for storing stuff like baking ingredients....sugar packets....anything dry that wont leak....ummmm gravy granules...spices...herbs and ostrich eggs.

Fran you could of course use it to store underwear and socks. I cheated though by reading what it said in the advert linked to the OP. If the whole thing doesn't fit into a drawer this may be less useful. Perhaps you could cut the thing down so that it did fit into a drawer.

The idea I had was to use it to store those glass baubles for the Christmas tree. The only thing is they are not made of glass anymore and being plastic could be put in any ordinary drawer.
