We are meeting to try to bring together different groups involved in housing struggles across Hackney. It would be great if someone from your group was able to be part of the discussion. There will be samosas and other snacks available.

I feel pretty clueless about this. The government is marketing the scheme as a means for local owner/residents to cash in their equity as a large downpayment on upgraded properties, amenities and the potential for steeper rises in equity, for an additional monthly time-limited rental payment in line with the costs of the rebuild over and above the value of the existing property. And, of course, to produce some new council housing. This seems like quite a nice 'deal', although it does take the shaping of the community out of the hands of local residents and put into into those who may have worrying ideas about the communty/ies' needs, preferences etc.
