Goalkeepers not happy with official WC ball

While I generally agree modern balls are built so that even the most inept of footballers can look good in the offense, it's the same bollocks over and over again since 2002. And guess what - I don't recall that many blunders that weren't mostly due to keepers ineptitude :p

I have to say kind of makes me agree with Julio César. The ball moves pretty much like the cheap supermarket balls I've played at school. I recognize those weird swerves :D

One England's excuses,

When they lose 2-1 against the U.S.A.,
Another,
When they draw 0-0 against Algeria,

And they won't mention it,
When they win 3-1 against Slovakia,
In the last twenty minutes,
With two freaky goals.

Second place,
Four points,
Knockout phase.

You mean Slovenia.

Dunno why they feel the need to change it. I don't want to see 'more goals' cause of how the football is...
As somone on The Game podcast said - merchendising.

It's weird (although not really given me track record in naivety), but until they actually spelled it out I genuinely thought every year they were trying to get closer and closer to spherical perfection

It's because the World Cup attracts a lot of viewers who aren't actual football fans but get into it for the occasional big tournament. If you don't have a lot of technical knowledge about the game, it's more exciting when there are more goals and so they're more likely to keep watching the adverts which the football is there to sell.

Not sure they've achieved the aim with this one though - there are apparently quite a few outfield players who aren't happy with it either. If you make the ball harder for the goalie to stop, it's just shifting the balance in favour of attacking teams - but if you make it harder for mid-field and strikers to control the ball you just add a lot of randomness to the game.

yup tbf as ymu has said.. its not just gkeepers complaining...

Its basic commercialism/advertising really innit... you never hear of the balls being given rigerous tests or released until close to the respective tournament?
