In so doing you also freed up the flow of the Sunrise organic ale for which I salute you. You'll be delighted to know I played my part in redistibuting it around the various toilets on site. Teamwork - what it's all about
yeah - there was no way I was going to allow the backstage bar to stay closed...;)

kudos to the bar crew as well though, they managed to bring their own pump on site by carrying it from Aldermaston wading waste deep through the flood to pump the water out of the bar. That's serious dedication to the cause of getting the crew some beer:D

What's all this about having to hide your own booze? Do they really not let you bring any? What the fuck is that all about?

same as at lots - reasonable amounts of booze allowed until licence kicks in, then you can't bring any in.

pretty standard policy now

Supposedly its a condition of the festival's licence that people aren't allowed to bring their own booze in. I don't understand why this should be so, when other festivals have no problem with it at all.

It puzzles me that Glasto don't care at all, unless you try bringing in pallets of beer, and Download Festival (which is full of a lot more people drinking themselves stupid) didn't really mind either - they even sell "slabs" on site for £25 for 24 cans.

Yet the Glade, where I would say there were a lot less people of the type to drink excessively, or cause trouble when drunk, don't allow it.

i think it's because Glastonbury has a longstanding licence and operates on a different basis. I think this rule seems to apply to new / recent licence issues and is more draconian as a result.

to a degree it depends on the local authority giving the license, and how they want to play it. Glade isn't the only festy that suffers from this- wychwood is the same, and, erm..one i've forgotten - possibly big chill....

Yep, different local authorities place different restrictions. Glastonbury has been around for donkey's so the locals are used to it. Glade is a little different and doesn't have nearly as much leverage over the people giving the licence to it.

I'd like to use some of the excellent reports here along with a few of the photos to put together a report for the urban75 'festivals' section. Obviously peeps will get full credit and I'll link back to this thread.

Is that OK?

I have a couple of pictures but I don't think they're suitable*.... I'll post them when I get home.

(there's more of kanda crying over spilt "milk" than anything else)

Sorry I didn't get to see anyone... but yes, rain aside it was great. Much better set-up this year all round, some great music and the atmosphere was incredible. Lots of appreciation to the organisers for managing to run 95% of the festival as it was supposed to be even with everything.

And to bring back some memories... the hole...
