Gender Studies

Ok Hive mind.

For reasons I am considering studying for an MA in Gender Studies. (of course as a white, middle aged, straight bloke I am uniquely qualified to work in this area).

What do Urban academics and theorists have to say on this area of study? What are the main themes and where is it going over the next 10 15 years. What new perspectives can it bring to politics, arts and science?

Basically how worthwhile is it? I'm looking for something to keep my mind going in my retired status (and have a half formed idea for a possible phd area of research later)

I'm not an academic and don't know the area but as a woman I think that's an awesome idea and totally something more white middle class straight blokes ought to be doing.

My advice to people is that they should study that which they are very interested in.
