French Louisiana / New France

cloudyday

caput mortuum
Can anyone recommend any book(s) discussing/set in/about French Louisiana / New France, up to and around it's hand over to/colonisation by the US? I'm looking for anything really, preferably not too dry. Thanks.

He has, but then I’m a sucker for that Southern Noir/Grit Lit crime fiction, his descriptions of the bayou/wetlands are very seductive; would love to tour the area one day. I’ll give the fried catfish a miss though.

Thanks all for the pointer to J L Burke, getting stuck into 1st Robicheaux book now.

I've enjoyed Tim Gautreaux books, fiction, Louisiana swampy river stories set in the twenties.

Burke also did a trio of decent non genre but polutically leftish novels in his earlier works - not Louisianna related though.
