France v Honduras (Group E) Sunday 15th June 2014

FIFA to review goalline technology because Jonathan Pearce (and a couple of others) got confused

"The first replay that was used showed the ball hitting the inside of the post and not fully crossing the line, before the next replay aired seconds later with the animation confirming the ball had fully crossed the line after it had hit the goalkeeper," said a statement from football's governing body.

"In order to ensure maximum clarity in the future for those unfamiliar with GLT, Fifa will review the coverage of this match with the broadcast production team and GoalControl GmbH, to see if any improvements can be made to enhance the viewing experience for fans."

I don't know if I heard corrctly but some idiot on ITV said Italy beat Engurland with an anti-football style of playing.. now Honduras that was anti-football the wouldn't have looked out of place in a UCF ring .. they were fucking dirty !! There were some all out assaults happening out there especially Palacios' stamping on Pogba, yet Pearce was still calling on Pogba to be red carded.
Honduras should be kicked out if their kicking out continues. How Izzaguere didn't get sent off for his kick during the game is beyond me, glad he doesn't play like that for Celtic

By rights he should have been. Yes, he was cynically and pretty brutally provoked, but he shouldn't have done what he did and by the letter of the law he should have been given a red card.
I think that rule needs changing. There needs to be some leeway for someone lashing back at a man who's stamping on him. Palacios deserved a red, Pogba maybe yellow.

Here's hoping for a speedy end to Honduras's dirty campaign.

How would that ever work? It would be almost impossible to enforce given that it would be so subjective - what's sufficient provocation and what's acceptable retaliation? It would be worse than the offside rule's active/inactive directive :D

Up to the judgement of the ref.

If you're stamped on, a petulant flick of the leg is on the side of not being sent off. A punch in the face is on the side of being sent off. And there is grey area between those.
