Film titles that are just people's names.

Some people are lucky to have had more than one film named after them:

Peter Pan

Miss Robin Hood

Pocahontas ("What the heck is a 'Pocahontas'?")

Have you not heard the story of Pocahontas? Seems an ok film title, it was obviously going to be about her life story, which was very interesting.

Anyway - John Carter - now that's a fictitious name, unlike Pocahontas, and about an adventure on Mars, that's a title that doesn't really give you much detail on the content.

"We've got this movie about a Civil War general called John Carter who finds a Spider Cave of Gold and has thrilling adventures on Mars, what should we call it?"

"How about - "John Carter"?"

No wonder their movie lost $200 million.

But after watching it I really enjoyed it.
