Always a piano for me in pretty much anything! I've never been a mad 'guitar' head and everything Prince has done (and pretty much EVERYTHING he has done, i prefer on the piano). At a wild guess, in terms of stuff people really know I'd say Mike Garson's piano solo on Alladin Sane.

The Korg M1 synth had a preset called Pole which was basically just that.
This is as it comes out of the box but there's plenty of scope to edit.

Ive found another scoffold pole tune ...not sure if its the Pole - its a bit lightweight - but going on the list

First thing that came to mind was the sound that comes up in the big intro of this track, which sounds like a scaffold pipe being struck

and on a similar theme that also popped into my head straight after, in Voodoo Ray theres a melodic metal pipe type sound that really makes the track
hear it loud and clear here at 0.39

I think they got it from Cypress HIll...

not sure where they got it from. Great sound for sure

Dunno if anyone else has said but is that a pitched up airhorn?
