Favourite sound in a song?

I'm sure throughout Maxinquaye you can hear Tricky taking puffs of weed. That's pretty cool. :D
Lots of cool noises on that album. It comes back to me sometimes now daydreaming in work, and it's years since I've heard it. Usually it's just noises and I think "what the heck was that from.... oh yeah Maxinquaye".

king tubby messing with drums is always a good sound
Twisting the never to be imitated Big Knob. Supposedly many people have tried to recreate that band pass filter thing he had on his desk and no one has come close...

I don't revisit it often, but when I do, I'm amazed at how good it is. One of the best albums of the 90s for sure!

First thing that came to mind was the sound that comes up in the big intro of this track, which sounds like a scaffold pipe being struck

Smith Inc - Palomino (0.18 and repeated)

and on a similar theme that also popped into my head straight after, in Voodoo Ray theres a melodic metal pipe type sound that really makes the track
hear it loud and clear here at 0.39

turns out i really like the sound of metal pipes. I didnt know that about myself

Ive found another good track with a "scaffold" pipe hit in it - loads of scaffold action on this

If anyone knows anymore Id like to hear them - something about that sound really does it for me

The intro to the album version of 'Universal' by OMD has a large piece of machinery starting up and running. I can't find it on YT but it sounds like a drop-forge/automatic hammer.

Oh man, so many but more sounds than sound.
The first record to switch me onto synthesizers - by mum bought 'I Feel Love' by Donna Summer the b-side of which contained the extended version of the song with amazing synth sounds of Giorgio Moroder
Can be heard from around 8 mins onwards on this version, I used to listen to it with my ear pressed up against the speaker :)

Another record that cemented my love of the synth.. Kids used to sneak ghetto blasters into school and the body poppers/breakdancers would gather in the playground for fun and games.
This was the first 'Electro' record ever played there.. Man Made by Man Parrish

ive found another scaffold pipe hit tune! I can go to bed now :D
Metronome - Voyage to the Bottom of the Bass

There's definitely a track from the 94ish era that has scaffold pole sounds on it but I'm fucked if I can pull it forward enough in my brain to remember it

Seeing the opening post I immediately thought of Animals. Then of course there is Dark Side with cash registers, alarm clocks Etc.

The noise that sounds like the "bbbrrrring" of a pin ball machine in the chorus of Milk and Honey by Beck.
Makes the hairs on my arms and the back of my neck stand up :)
