Just tell them when you start that you have the holiday pre-booked. Most employers would be fine with that.

The downside being that you need a diamond tipped drill and a sledge hammer to get your tent pegs more than an inch into the ground :)

I suppose that's also why it isn't possible to dig a soakaway around the water tap.

or decent tent pegs:p

tbh I wasn't aware of the soak-away problem. Will make sure that those who need to, know.

The standpipe near the main campsite toilets was a muddy marsh last year and the year before. A bit pit filled with gravel would sort out the problem.

Yup, I skidded on it and got mud all up my back. It looked like I'd shat myself.

does it rule out proper barbecues on stands etc?

It's a shame if it does. I understand that there are fuckwits out there who don't know how to look after any sort of fire properly, but it dosen't half penalise those of us that know what we're doing :(

A campfire can be utterly safe with just a bit of thought...

sadly there is no way of telling the difference between clever people and fuckwits when it comes to fires which is why I've often been lumbered with the joyous task of telling people to put 'em out.

The tent fire thing is one of the reasons I dob in fucked stewards actually. Sorry but if you're on a fire tower tasked with watching for campsite fires, you're no good if you're looking at the pretty lights in the sky or listening to the voices in your head.

And as for the defensiveness earlier at my ickle pointlette - ooooooh!

Am getting proper excited about this even though it is months away

Got laid off today (not enough work, although I suspect its cos I took a week off to do stuff around the house for me old dear) so I am gonna have to look for another job if I want to go and pray that they give me the time off .

If its a perm job then you can say you already had it booked off.

I have been to other festivals that exercised this rule and it included charcoal BBQs but not gas ones. I think the chance of a BBQ igniting crops in a neighbouring field is negligible but it must be an insurance thing.

Oh yeah, I bought a belt with festivals in mind the other day. It's basically an Animal belt but the buckle is a bottle opener

Up here we get loads of people camping. Most of them are quite good at clearing away their shite but I have seen people throw hot charcoal into a bush when 'tidying' up.
