The 'Who Killed Archie Mitchell' storyline has gripped the nation this year with bookies reporting floods of bets on well over 20 potential suspects ahead of tonight's thrilling live episode of EastEnders to mark the soap's 25th anniversay.
Archie, played by Larry Lamb, was murdered on Christmas Day in the Queen Vic and tonight the identity of the culprit will be finally revealed following weeks of speculation.
There are so many suspects, with scriptwriters reportedly penning 10 possible endings, but not even the cast know who it is and they won't find out until 30 minutes before the episode is broadcast.
Sky Bet currently make Sean Slater their 2/1 favourite ahead of his expected on-screen return to Albert Square for the first time in over a year while Phil Mitchell's son Ben is 9/2 and Becca Swanson is 5/1.
Ryan Malloy, Peggy Mitchell and Joel Reynolds are next in the running at 6/1, 8/1 and 10/1 respectively while Jack Branning and Bradley Branning are 14/1 and Stacey Slater and her mum Jean are priced at 16s.
Other Mitchell family suspects include Grant (16/1), Roxy (20/1), Ronnie (25/1), Phil (33/1), Billy (33/1) and Sam at (33/1). Janine Butcher is an interesting outsider at 40/1.
In a storyline such as this, a case can be made for virtually every member of the cast.
But maybe Bradley's reason is a little stronger than most. Stacey Slater, who he re-married on Thursday night's show, claimed she was raped by Archie while struggling to control her bipolar disorder.
Stacey ended up pregnant and although it has since transpired the baby isn't Archie's due to his infertility, Bradley did not know this on Christmas Day.
Some would say it might be a little too obvious' for Bradley to be the killer after he was seen hitting Archie before the murder - but you should never rule out the double bluff.
And more importantly the actor who plays the lovable loser - Charlie Clements - is shortly leaving the soap and his exit has always been billed as a shocking February storyline.
Rumours have suggested Bradley will commit suicide, which some say rules him out of the murder market, but logically thinking this will mean the actor won't be committed to playing out a long trial in court later this year.
With so much hype surrounding tonight's show, the soap's producers can't afford a limp finale and surely must give the role of the killer to such a prominent and popular character such as Bradley.
He's also one of the best actors on the soap and will be more likely to cope with the pressure of the live episode than others. That has to be a consideration.
If the murder ends up being a lesser name such as Becca Swanson, Ryan Malloy or Joel Reynolds then the BBC will run the risk of being accused of a major anti-climax.
Given the number of possibilities, we don't suggest you go big on this market but for a bit of fun we reckon it's worth a small stake on Bradley at a best of 20/1 with Paddy Power.
Also, by betting with Paddy Power, you get your stake back if Ben Mitchell is named as the killer.
