Whale sculpture catches crashed Dutch metro train

A metro train that crashed through a barrier near Rotterdam is left suspended thanks to a sculpture.

A train driver in the Netherlands has had a lucky escape thanks to a fortuitously placed art installation.
A metro train in Spijkenisse, near the city of Rotterdam, crashed through a barrier at the end of the tracks shortly before midnight on Sunday.
But rather than plummeting 10m (32ft) into the water below, the train was left suspended dramatically in the air.

I don't know how flexible those connectors are, or how well they react to being bent beyond their rated capacity.

Yeah, the fron't carriage is on a pivot at the 3rd set of doors and being held up by the coupling with the 2nd carriage. Reckon the driver will be needing to get rid of his underpants after that though.

Oddly I have been to this metro station, on the way to a teknival at the entrance to the Europort in 1996, there were no whales there at that time though, so was a lot more dangerous than today...
