I’ll have a cheeky bit of Neil Smith or Glen Driver please.

Smith would be worth considering. Not sold on Driver at all - lovely bloke but not a great record. Where's Dean Brennan these days? Paul Barnes has a decent track record with young players. Dare I suggest Craig Edwards too? Very strong personality, actively engages with fans. Think he'd really build an atmosphere and connection that is otherwise absemt at the moment.

I think in normal circumstances Adeniyi would be a strong candidate but he feels a bit too close to the current regime.

Paul Barnes is free, he was sacked by Guildford City this week. Dean Brennan is Head of Football at Barnet. Neil Smith seems to fancy a Conference National gig, he has been co-commentating on a fair few Aldershot matches recently.

I really love Glen Driver. Great man and done well with Braintree and Leiston, especially in his second Leiston spell. Also wouldn't mind Peter Adeyeni (never l know how to spell his surname) who's doing a decent job at Carshalton. I personally don't think Gavin should be sacked but if we start to fall down the table then questions will have to be asked

The fucking what? What did these cunts look like?
England fans.
It was from behind me. I turned round on hearing it and had a go. But no one would own up.
I’ll be honest today was a shock to me. I’ve been off to the side for a while - literally, taking young kids I’ve been at the side of the pitch. Today for the first time in a couple of years I was back behind the goal. It wasn’t a good experience at all.
In which regard I think I owe people an apology who’ve been saying “it’s gone” and I’d not believed them. Today, it had gone. You were right.

Meanwhile all the directors including Peter Crouch are congratulating their success while counting the money.

I invited them to do so.
Sadly they seemed to think (with some numerical justification) that they’re the mainstream now.
Presume these were near the bar at the DKH send 2nd half? I raised an eyebrow while walking past.

First half behind the goal at the back I was actually enjoying it then made the big mistake of going for a piss and beer 20 mins in. Finally got out, beer in hand just before 2nd half KO. Couldn’t give a toss after that, nowhere too see, might as well queue for another beer or piss again.

Temporary seats might have well replaced the covered bar, the ground is unbearable in all aspects with crowds over 2000.

Car Wash end? Yes. But not near the bar. Central but right (ha) and more towards the MegaContainer. Different group. Emphasises the point there’s a lot of them out there.

Not the group I saw then as they were just being boisterous. Lots of small groups then doing their ‘thing’.

Really would like a calm explanation of why we could not win today (apart from gifting two goals) I don't think its about being unlucky
why does this happen to us
individually and on paper we have a great squad
is it because we are missing something ? a key striker ? or defender ?
or is it we need more money to buy/pay players (rightly or wrongly)
some rationale would be helpful to understand this defeat beyond (including my own ) it was woeful comments
I accept we are still 10th in the League and were 4th at the start of the day
and still remain committed to the Gavin & junior who have taken us so far
but maybe if we understood why we lost - could help the pain and exasperation of todays defeat

It happens because the manger is out of his league, time to replace with someone with experience at this level. Thank you for all you’ve acheived which over ten or so years has been wonderful for which we are grateful. Huge attendances mean jack shit, a club to beat woeful performances given the playing budget.

Stop beating about about the bush, the man is a liability unless non-league winning is the aim. Fuck him off now along along with Aspire and start anew with an experienced manager who would piss this league with the income. Today was a fucking embarassment.

Love how non-league fans can still embrace the spirit of the premier league.

Quite a few of us left at half time. The disconnect between the players and the fans is really quite sad. It's become an extension of a Lordship Lane day out. Everyone looks the same. We really do need a rethink on many levels. But that's also on those of us who have a sense of what the club is about. You can't just carp from the sidelines. I wish I had the network and experience to do some outreach into the wider community and make the change I think many of us want to see
And that should be an effort that DC would want us all to get behind.

Yep, I'm with Scutta and his reply to you just now.

With regards to Tom, I regularly take him up on his ongoing offer to discuss stuff. We disagree on plenty but I try to keep it constructive and I know his offer is genuine. Give it a go, honestly.

Deep breaths all round. Tomorrow's another day.

Oh, absolutely. Like I say, I've known Tom for years and I've stood on the touchline with him on multiple occasions and discussed this, that, and the other. I don't doubt his integrity for a moment.

I won't be emailing on this occasion, however. I feel we've all had more than our fill of my musings and people can read my thoughts here - I see no need in repeating myself.

I am hurt by the events on here in the last few days, too, and so I don't have a huge amount of enthusiasm for direct, private chats with board members (again, not Tom personally - I would say the same if it was Mel or Ben). Tonight has not been fun by any stretch of the imagination. Like you say, I think a few deep breathes and a bit of space might do everyone some good, myself in particular.
