Dulwich Hamlet v Bedfont Sports, FA Cup, 18 September 2021

Another 45 minutes like that, and we’ll be in the envious position of being able to concentrate on the league for the rest of the season.

And the Trophy.

But you get my point.

From the commentary, it sounds like we missed loads of chances today. Also sounds as if we should have had a couple of penalties - though we'd have probably missed those too! A very disappointing result.

poor Hamlet performance only beaten by Ref's poor performance
no excuses for either
however congrats to Bedfont and their fans - hope they get a big draw

Terrible result. Their keeper pulled off some excellent saves but the team just didn't gel.

Embarrassing to see us resorting to playing for fouls against a team two leagues below.

We had plenty of corners but didn't seem to have much of an idea what to do with them. Timlin was missing but other than that it was pretty much a full strength team.

I can't agree with that. Apart from failing to score I thought we were simply beaten fair and square by opponents who played well above their level. Of course we might have played better but nine times out of ten we'd at least haveforced a draw with that performance and I didn't think the referee had any bearing on the result. We just have to take that on the chin and move on.

definitely a penalty in first 10 mins - was just one of the the decisions the Ref missed
I am not really into Ref bashing - thankless task but that was a pen all day

fair play to the Bedfont fans - made themselves known
never a fan of "your not singing anymore" but your winning in the Cup I guess can be overlooked

Can't remember the last time we played a side where the gulf in quality was so marked. And I don't think we played horribly - on another day their 'keeper doesn't make the stops and we get through with a 'professional' performance against lower league opposition.

Think the most disappointing aspects were the way we ran out of ideas and impetus as the second half wore on (almost the complete opposite to last Sunday ), the quality of set pieces into the box that let them off the hook repeatedly, and the substitutions in the last 15 minutes or so that saw us lose any shape or plan, which led to it all getting a bit desperate.

On the plus side, at least it's saved us another losing trip to Eastbourne.

Gav out your Joking That man is a legend What about B.I.G out. Players. Didn’t put in a shift today can’t blame gav surely

Come on no jokes. Let’s be serious your most probably a great fan but gav will stay can’t blame him let’s support gav and the team ❤️👍

Who chooses the players, the tactics and trains the team? Its Gav. He's not immune from criticism when he gets it wrong or we play poorly and nor should he. Being relentlessly happy clappy is pish.

Give the goalie some credit, he played a blinder. Before anyone comes on and says how unsporting he was at the end, then bollocks, you give it and you take it.
It’s a shame that we have to hear that about us, always enjoyed how we’ve been able to wind a keeper up for a good 90 and can give him a round of applause after for dealing with it/giving it back.

Despite the disappointing loss and it was
It was still a nice day at Champion Hill - sun shone - the beer queues were short (ish) and champion hill looked great
didn't get abusive or ugly as would occur at many clubs
Bedfont fans had a great time and a warm reception - for which they have thanked the club
their day to savour
we will have better

Not saying Gav out but he is the fucking manager. Appreciate we've moved into an era where leaders take no responsibility for what they produce though. Funny how we're shit in the Cup constantly. Yeah, talk about Carlisle, a couple of years back now, but that was an aberration and we were shit that night anyway.

Maybe the club needs to think about slashing the entry fee for cup matches because it seems a bit much to pay full whack to watch a team and coaching staff who seem not remotely arsed.

Yeh, exactly - Carlisle was hardly the plucky performance that we all hoped for and, certainly for me, was tarnished by the fact that we hoofed Quade out for a pair of blokes who's names I can't even fucking remember now.

And if we're talking cups generally then let's not forget the shambles v Balham a few years ago. Nor Christchurch last season.

Agreed that for some reason it doesn't look like we can bothered.
