Disneyland Paris - anyone been?

Numbers

an ting!
We're going for 2 nights/3 days end of March, we're staying in one of the themed onsite hotels.

Anyone with experience of it?

I know it will be expensive and will be a lot of queuing etc. but would love to hear the experience of others.

I was once looking for a cheap way to get to Paris and bought coach tickets to Disney Paris someone had won and sold on via Loot. The bloke lived in Sh Bush and had two parrots. A real one and a toy one that could repeat whatever the real one said. Their conversations were equally amusing and disturbing.

I missed the coach by minutes.

We're going in May. If time travel becomes available before I pop my clogs I'll pop back and let you know.

I went on a work trip absolutely bloody years ago - probably 1999 or 2000 - Jesus Christ that’s 25 years ago.

I thought it was very impressive and almost wet myself when I saw Mickey Mouse.

The rides were great and everything was so well done.

It’s probably just bigger and fuller and more expensive now but I’m sure it will be just as brilliant. They know what they’re doing.

A mate went recently with his kids, this is what he said (he would probably have spent his way to the best experience as he is quite well off)

To those with kids who haven’t been, I have to say Disneyland Paris is bloody excellent. Absolutely magic for the kids and really well set up. We had a fantastic time and the Art of Marvel hotel is exceptionally cool. Well worth the 🤑🤑🤑 there was only one ride our boys couldn’t go on due to height (1.4m) being o er 1.2m is the key to most of the rides.

I think Disney is a marmite thing- love it or hate it.

I'm in the latter camp.

Late ma took mdk1 and myself back in 2000. I only went because she wanted to go and was paying. Mdk1 was terrified of the giant Disney characters. Its not something I'd ever imagined doing. I hated every minute of it.

Sounds fucking awful. Maybe fun for kids but why would you go as an adult. Each to their own I suppose.

Went in 2015 for daughter's 6th. My cynicism deserted me in about five minutes. It was spectacular and the huge show they put on every night is ridiculous. I thought the food was overpriced and underwhelming however.

DO go to the adjacent Disney Studios bit, some of it is fascinating.

Cheers all.

It’s not just Mrs Numbers and I. When we were back in my home town for Christmas my brother and his wife gave their 2 kids a gift for Christmas which was a trip to Disney for end of March and they asked if we would join them, we thought fuck it why not.

Good thing is we’re staying on site so be easy to have a break from the park if we want it.

Been twice and stayed at the Radisson, it's a short shuttle bus ride away but it's a normal hotel, so you get away from all that Disney crap. Both my kids thought it was a bit meh.

Took my kids when they were little. Was Ok.

Once got into an argument with a friend who was claiming they were poorer than me ..

At one point she said “ it’s so bad, we can only afford to go to EuroDisney”. This was about 12 years ago but I still remind her of it occasionally…

Was the second time a punishment? :hmm:

Some people love it. Second time we went we took the shuttle bus to the park the day going home so we could get the train home, there was a couple from Birmingham on it with a very young kid, they told me they were at the park until 10pm the night before and were going back in again, asked them what their favourite rides were, "Oh, we didn't go on any rides yesterday..." wtaf???

We’re staying in the Cheyenne (Toy Story theme) so we get a magic hour before the park opens. Not sure how useful that will be.

We had a chance to go off peak when kids were 4 and 7, so we took it and went for 4 nights. Didn't know what to expect really.

Had a fantastic time, rather to our surprise.

We stayed just outside in the Davy Crockett lodges, which being self catering saved us a bit and as off peak, queuing wasn't hideous. The Magic Hour for staying in Disney hotels thing was a real boon and we used it to go in early and sometimes leave site for lunch in the area and then going back in for later afternoon so we missed the peak.

I stayed at one of the hotels in 2011 as Paris was full so that was the only place work could find us space (Fashion week or something).

Very overpriced food. I think the next stop down there is a massive shopping centre with a supermarket so you can use that for supplies if you want to make sandwiches etc. (Might be Val d'Europe?) Hopefully still there.

Be really really really nice to the staff (or cast members in Disney speak). They have loads of freebies to giveaway (fast pass tickets, cast lunches etc). The deal we had included a load of fast pass tickets which saves loads of time.

I really loved it when I went but that was with the kids. Youngest loved meeting all the characters and eldest loved all the rollercoasters.
