Contacting MP

Has anyone else been having trouble getting in touch with MP Florence Eshalomi I’ve been trying to reach out since July, but I haven’t received any response at all. It’s starting to feel like Brixton has been completely abandoned. Has anyone had similar issues, or does anyone have advice on how to get a reply ?

Are you sure your MP is Florence Eshalomi? She is MP for Vauxhall and Camberwell Green.
Bell Ribeiro-Addy is the MP for Clapham and Brixton Hill.

I've found local councillors more accessible than MPs. That may not help if your issue needs to be addressed by the MP, but might be worth considering. I don't live in Brixton anymore though.

I can’t even get hold of the councillor for crime

Are you thinking of Cabinet Member for Safer Communities Cllr Mahamed Hashi?

Which ward are you in? Have you tried the MP or Cllr monthly face to face surgeries? (I just noticed Florence's web page still says face to face meetings are not available due to COVID pandemic!)
Are you in touch with your ward Safer Neighbourhood Team?

You have not quite said what the issue is but I get the impression that it's general antisocial behaviour and associated crime.

These are currently being circulated - councillors of four Brixton wards calling on the Borough Commander to take action - and you can sign up to the letter here. It's partly a positive thing but at the same time fails to acknowledge Lambeth Council's own failures to develop a joined up strategy.

Also worth taking a look at Action on ASB! There is a link on their website to their Whatsapp Community where you can share experiences and get advice from people with similar concerns.

yes it’s Cabinet Member for Safer Communities Cllr Mahamed Hashi I did attend one surgery and he didn’t show up I’ll try another one today .

Which ward are you in? Stockwell

Have you tried the MP or Cllr monthly face to face surgeries? My MP is not doing face to face I emailed her multiple times I’ve now made a complaint been emailing since July and called no response the same with councillors.

Are you in touch with your ward Safer Neighbourhood Team? I contacted them and have now also made a complaint no response at all

i have signed this petition but my issue is ASB there’s also a very personal component .

The Home office needs to urgently address issues in Lambeth .

Lots of MPs have been a bit slow to start or resume normal service, fwiw.

I've written to several about a local issue and 3/5 responded within 6 weeks, 2 haven't even acknowledged it yet. All but one are incumbents so should have office staff able to read and acknowledge emails.

She has not responded since July 2024 it’s now November with multiple emails . I only got an automated email and never heard from my MP or her staff .

I'd consider calling her out on X. You might find plenty of other people that she has not responded to, come out of the woodwork.
Here is her page. Although she has not posted since July....
..

Very disappointing. When I was working in Stuart Holland's Parliamentary office (former MP for Vauxhall) we had a rule that every contact from a constituent had to be responded to by at least the end of the next working day, and that work on their case had to begin within two days at worst. Representing constituents is basically what an MP is for.

Exactly especially when it affects the most vulnerable in the community that’s why I voted for her

I made a formal complaint I don’t want to call her out she seems to be doing her best but clearly something has slipped thru the net

She (or someone in her office at least) should respond - although I see she has been elected as the Chair of the Housing, Communities and Local Govt Select Committee which might go some way to explain things

Select Committees

I took that into consideration but a member of her team should non the less be responsive . Not sure what to do the standards commission was not much help

No, it is literal, hence the link showing her speech in the debate on the topic of ‘Representation of the People’ on 13th November
