I've always liked the idea of an upper house and a monarch chosen by lot. But without the power to amend or veto legislation, this proposed talking shop wouldn't be particularly useful.
 
Does anyone else ever get slightly tired of politics stories breathlessly reporting on utterly imaginary campaigns as if there is even the slightest possibility that they might happen?
 
You reckon? I haven't read his book yet. But his stuff for the blogs is much better than your average punditr
