Hit the Exeter chazzers this morning. Helpfully they seem to be very concentrated in one particular area. One specialist book shop doesn’t open Sunday, but the others do.

16 books in total for £38, all on subjects that interest me. What I love is that some of these are books I wouldn’t think to look for in Waterstones, and at £2-3 each I’m happy to take a chance on them. Others are books I’ve read but would love to re-read and have my own copy. And some I was just curious about!

That's what I like about charity shop books, you can pick interesting things up that you would never have noticed in a full price bookshop. I've read some great reads I wouldn't have otherwise seen and if it's something you can't get on with you can just pass it back and it does a charity a good turn anyway.

I'm a bit of a fan of Never Let Me Go

Hit two new charity shops today, both of which do furniture for which I was browsing not buying. Nonetheless I came away with a decent haul of books & some other stuff

Particular liked the cut glass tumblers which were £1.50 each

The radio alarm clock was £5 and it’s part of my plan to not use my mobile in bed. The books were all £1 apart from the James Herriot story one at £2 which is for my nieces :)

I recently picked up that runners guide at a charity shop, it's quite a neat little (well not that little) guide if you are thinking of getting started. It's useful just to flick through. Nicer than interneting.

Also Paddy Clarke.

Yep. I will be a complete beginner in terms of fitness so need to forget about my past experience as a runner!

I used to have loads of running books - Noakes Lore of Running covers the science in huge detail (lots of stuff about rectal temperature). Hal Higdon, Norrie Williamson, Pfitzinger and Douglas, Jeff Galloway - all had very good training manuals for various distances.
