Championship play-off final: Blackpool vs Cardiff City

And yet despite this "transfer fund" they still made an overall profit in the transfer market. Unlike certain rival clubs who spent heavily to no avail  Must have cost the poor guy a fortune. :D

More like a Chairman's "promises" and spin to try and paint himself as the hero. As you know, these often turn out to not quite be the full truth of the matter. ;)
It's the club's official statement, not a promise. If you've any evidence that it was inaccurate, please produce it otherwise it just looks like you're making stuff up.

This is getting well boring now, by the way. Your club wasn't even involved in the game so I've no idea why you're going on and on and on in this thread.

The fact that they recouped more money over the season than they spent speaks for itself. Despite the pre-season promises of having a considerable transfer fund, it NEVER materialised.

Blackpool: Transfer revenue: 1.080.000 £ - Transfer expenditures: 1.026.000 £ = +54.000 £ http://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/en/fc-blackpool/transfers/verein_1181.html

Cardiff: Transfer revenue: 5.715.000 £ - Transfer expenditures: 6.817.500 £ = -1.102.500 £ http://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/en/cardiff-city/transfers/verein_603.html

You're making yourself look incredibly bitter over all this you know ?

Your team MASSIVELY outspent little ol' Blackpool this season, yet they still triumphed against the odds. Why can't you admit defeat graciously and give them credit for this ?

All this clutching at straws and nitpicking is looking increasingly desperate editor. :(

Fuck me you are a dog with a bone

:D

Can you do your detective work and find out what we actually payed for Chopra cos I'm sure Sunderland owed us a huge amount.

I'm pretty sure it we didn't part with 4 million.

smoke and mirrors innit

Exactly, like I said in an earlier post, it's impossible to tell what the true situation is with regards to transfers etc until accounts are published almost a year later, and even then it can be disguised with creative accounting. It's mostly speculation, guesswork, bravado and paper talk. There's always a few gremlins uncovered eventually, just some worse than others.

After initially appearing to take defeat graciously, the editor seems to now be feeling slightly bitter and trying to poo-poo Blackpool's achievement. Which seems a bit unfair and hypocritical when you compare the revenue, wages and transfers of the respective clubs.

Are you a bit fucking twp or something?

NOT ONCE have I been comparing Blackpool's finances with Cardiff's, and have reminded you of the fact several times - yet here you are once again pointlessly posting up bizarre and irrelevant facts. Look:

Not sure why you're bringing up Cardiff, because I've never made that comparison

For the last fucking time: I'm not comparing them with Cardiff, FFS.

Read the thread properly before posting again because it's just too weird arguing with you at present.

editor ftr I'm not trying to pick a fight here geezer, just think Blackpool should be given due credit and respect for what they've achieved is all. Cardiff can count themselves as unlucky, the nature of the play-offs is that anything can happen in a one-off tie.

As long as they hold as much as possible of the squad together, and put in as many good performances as they have this season, there is no reason why CCFC should not be pushing for promotion next season. Best of luck to them. :)

And what I've actually said:
Anyway, just to repeat: I wish Blackpool all the best. They beat us fair and square at Wembley and I hope they do well in the Premiership.
Well done Blackpool and good luck for next season.
Yeah, they deserved the win.
I'm not going to bother to reply to any more of your weird misrepresentations because they're getting on my tits. Anyone reading the thread can see what I actually posted.

No need for the insults please.

Here's a clue, the title of the thread and topic of discussion... "Championship play-off final: Blackpool vs Cardiff City"

Through the last couple of pages you've been constantly bleating about the unfair advantage of Blackpool having a millionaire owner bankrolling them to success.

Now who is the advantage over ? Top tip, check the thread title again for a clue. ;) Your words may have been carefully chosen, but it's damn clear what your implication is.

Take defeat on the chin, and look forward to next season.

Like I said you started off from being completely gracious, to taking bitter swipes at Blackpool.

I understand that defeat in such a crucial tie is like working through a grieving process... ie.

Numbness >> Mourning >> Anger >> Letting Go

I think it's time to let go of the anger editor, and to start looking forward to the 2010/11 season.

In the meantime there's the World Cup to look forward to, which may obviously help you through this grieving process. :)

And that latest pile of dishonest, twisting shit translates into:

"Ooops! I really can't find any quotes to support the bullshit I've been posting so now I'll start insisting that I know what what he really meant instead."

It's all a bit pathetic really. I've made it very, clear that I was not comparing Blackpool to Cardiff and said so. Repeatedly.

Can I just seek some clarification here,

has there been a single City fan anywhere on Urban on any thread that has said we deserved to win?

Ok here you go...

I wish Blackpool all the best, but he has a point: it's going to be very hard for them to survive in the cash-driven Premier$hip. With such a small ground and a relatively tiny fanbase, it's going to be very difficult for them to raise funds through tickets and merchandising and that's like to impact on the team's potential.

But I wish them all the best. Their (mainly new found) fans were great at Wembley and helped make a real occasion of it.

Littered with backhanded compliments...

Yes, but without their Latvian multi millionaire pumping in millions they wouldn't be where they are now. And that's a fact too.

Not to knock their achievement, mind, but just pointing out that they were given a clear fiscal advantages over some other clubs.

And again belittling their achievements...

Don't be silly. If Blackpool hadn't received his millions, they wouldn't be where they are now, and the club has clearly enjoyed a substantial advantage over other clubs who weren't so lucky as to have a multi-multi-millionaire come along and invest millions in them.

Cardiff may have spent £1.7m on a record signing Chopra, but Valeri Belokon has poured in millions - starting with a £4.5m initial investment followed by a "considerable amount" extra in August 2009.

Most clubs don't get handed that kind of money, you know, so a little perspective is needed here.

http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2010/may/23/blackpool-premier-league-valeri-belokon

Clearly comparing Cardiff and Blackpool's financial situation, with inaccuracies and side helping of bitterness.

But yet when you're pulled up on any of this, I've been accused of dishonesty and twisting your words ? Whilst also throwing abusive comments back at me for trying to have a simple debate.

I've played ball, and countered your arguments politely with quotes and statistics, whilst also offering the occasional olive branch, and also chances for you to concede. In return I've been called an idiot in Welsh. :(

And not once did I compare Blackpool with Cardiff in all of that. In fact I specifically made that point to you several times. Give it up now for fuck's sake.

I've made my point and am done with this now, there's not anything else to be added by me except... no beef intended, and good luck to Cardiff next season. :)

dont misrepresent me ta
'some of my best friends are engurlisch' ;)

clear to anyone reading that you are a moaning weirdo with some not funny and not ironic problem with this site you post so much on, catch a grip

Yawn.

Grow up.

From where I see it some posters are just in here trying to wind Cardiff fans up. Of course we are upset but editor didn't slag off Blackpool if you read the posts. A backhanded compliment is still a compliment after all!

Badlands, we could have won though, innit. Hell of a game, really. It has taken me til today to get over it. This thread has helped, the amount of crap on here. I don't think Dread could have been much more gracious to Blackpool other than climbing up Blackpool tower and shouting "well done you pissed-up sunburnt tangerine freaks"

I cannot fucking wait for the new season, I hope the players and staff have had the chat that says, "right, new owners, new money, let's stay one more year and really ram it up them"

Bring it on

History isn't on our side, only 3 of 19 beaten fianlists have gone up the following season, but with the positive noises coming from CCS about manager and players wanting another pop at it, and with a couplke of new signings I am more positive than I ever thought I would be 5 days after the defeat.

As an aside I dont condone violence against women but was sorely tempted to deck a tangerine female on saturday who came up to me and Mrs27 and said "Fuck off back to Wales"
