my observation of the w/c so far is that teams with tidy, short passing seem to be performing best (e.g. Japan). if this is correct its probably connected to the new ball which is getting overhit by teams playing long balls from defence (Algeria and Denmark noticeably so), or from anywhere really (Lahm's cross to Klose withstanding).
