Brrrr! Who's got the heating on?

Have you put the heating on?

I'm going to say straight out that I may have misunderstood you - but in case I didn't, it sounds like a very bad idea to me to put a fan heater anywhere near any computers, which should ideally be in the coolest place available and well ventilated for cool/cold airflow.

I get worried if my case temperature hits 30 degrees - at which point the case fan kicks in.
My comfortable temperature is well under 30 degrees - the PC itself will supply some of the heat - perhaps about 50 watts.

The shelf has plenty of ventilation.

I'm not sure that the poll is really that good. It doesn't have an option for "It's hot here, and the A/C is too cold, so I'm having to get dressed"

eta When we were in Scotland the first two weeks of August, my in=laws had the heating on because it was so cold.

I've only just turned the fan off.
The back door and most windows are still open all day when we're in.

My baths have got hotter as it's cooled outside though.

I'm assuming socks and jumpers are being put on before the heating or will you all sit there in shorts and t shirts with the radiator on? :D

Why didn't you vote for the poll fail option then? :p

Certainly - I wouldn't dream of putting heating on without putting more layers on first. The usual jumpers and thermal socks. But if my feet or hands get cold then it is too cold, so on the heating goes. :)

I just found a Thinsulate hat in my quilted jacket pocket.
All I need now is my cut off sock anklebands to keep the draught out of my trouser legs.

The window is still open, mind.

Couldn't you just tuck your trousers into the top of your socks, rather than using chopped up bits of socks?

Its freezing, been wearing extra layers, not had to put heating on yet though. Everyones wearing coats, ffs.

That's partly how all my walking socks ended up as anklewarmers - it ruins them.
Actually my current anklewarmers were simply socks that wore out.

You need to get socks that have more elastic in the cuffs (or whatever the sock top is called). Alternatively, you could tuck your trousers into your socks, and then use suspenders to hoik the socks up so they stay put along with your trousers. I guess you'd have to wear the suspenders on the outside of your legs, but if you're indoors it won't matter. :)

GG favours the practical over the aesthetic anyway, so that may well be a solution to his woes. I'm not trying to take the piss out of you there GG.

Put it on twice in the last few days for 30 minutes just to take the chill off first thing when up
with the boy

Gonna bring some wood in for the burner as well for evenings, seems weird to do that though.

I refuse to put the heating on in August. I've just scrubbed the bath, which has worked up a sweat.

I'll be using my bath this afternoon - I hope it's warmed up by the time I have to climb out of it wet...

poll fail - it doesn't have the option for "I turn the heating on / off according to the calendar not the temperature" which many people stick to.

it wasn't quite cold enough in berkshire to put the heating on yesterday. mum-tat in the frozen wastes of s london had the electric fire on when i arrived last night.

Bathroom's very chilly but the rest of the house is okay really. Can't have the central heating on for one room so we'll just have to suffer it for another month or so.

I have a really shitty cold though. Doesn't feel like August.

I don't recall it being in that cold(NE coast). I camped the 1st and 3rd weekend of this month and was fine(and I feel the cold)
