Broadchurch series 2

I'm still watching but it's a bit meh. I can't follow which bits are the case from the first series and which bits are from tennants back story.
Having not seen the first series, I'm even more in that camp. Obvious quality in the actors and the 'big things happening in a small place' type story, quality all round, just not quite fitting together as a cumulative set of episodes. Still, pretty good.

I'm still enjoying it. Olivia Colman is a pleasure to watch.
She is. One of those people you have an awareness of playing various parts over the years that have never really stretched her. Tennant's pretty damn good as well.

Edit, just having looked on wiki she's had 2 previous bafta nominations for stuff I haven't seen, but much of her career does seem to have been bits and pieces, largely in comedy.
For some reason she was a signatory of that anti-Scottish independence letter that was sent to the grauniad, which is a bit wtf.

Very unsure that I can be bothered tonight. The only possible reason for the trial going as it is would be that nonce-features is murdered shortly after being let out, paving the way for a third series in which we are supposed to care whether it was Colman, her from Birds of a Feather, any of the four from the bereaved wurzel family or the mysterious postie who kills him. ITV wouldn't let that many monetisable viewers escape with only one disappointing follow-on season, after all, and there needs to be a reason to stay with Broadchurch. Any more time in Sandbrook, though, or any more stuff about Charlotte Rampling's failing vision, will provide enough reason to bail before it gets that far.

no, what's going to happen is the 3d series based round solving the murder of the prosecution barrister

Like Utopia the writers are trying their best to string out a second series of a storyline that hasn't much traction. But with a cast like that its worth seeing.

the writer supposedly planned and plotted all three series at the same time, changing the first one just in case it didn't get renewed. I hope he's done the same for this series, cos its chances of renewal look dodgy.

Was Pauline Quirk meant to be good last series? Because she certainly isn't in this one. Badly written and badly acted. Tho not as bad as the writing and acting in that dreadful showdown scene between the two wigs

Where did the photo with the agriculture place lead come from? I drifted off momentarily at that bit...

The plot is a bit daft and tenuous but I'm still in. Olivia Colman is such a brilliant actress.

I'm still in. I'm not sure why but probably because there's bugger all else to watch on tele these days

I'm still enjoying it but have fairly low standards and I have a massive crush on Tennant.

Quote from Screen Wipe "in series one the mystery was who did it, in series two the mystery was what's the point?" LOLZ

Its a total mess, and the only thing that seems to progress the plot is Eve or someone else deciding to reveal something they've known all along. Plus most scenes seem to consist of a bleached out landscape shot, two lines of dialogue, then that menacing synth chord they use in master chef comes in. It's the same one. You keep expecting someone to say 'Brian, has made poached pigeon breast, with a forest fruit reduction.'

LOL. The day I get roped into watching "compelling" british is the day england win the world cup.

have little time for UK shows. America will always produce the best.

That's pretty narrow-minded. You'll miss out on some gold. Luther, for example, is brilliant.

I'm still enjoying it. It's nowhere near as good as the first series, but it's better than the 'bantersaurus' that is Silent Witness season 764.

Charlotte Rampling has the most extraordinary face but she seriously needs a better haircut.

She's playing exactly the same character as she did in Dexter.

Coleman is usually brilliant but is now stuck with the same hang dog expression three episodes in a row and it's getting boring.

I'm still watching, I do enjoy it but mainly for olivia Coleman and David Tenant.
I'm recording it and watching it at a later date and Silent Witness is taking first place.

I do think Pauline Quirke is good as well, she's so horrible!
