Brixton Splash

Hardly anyone about. I'd hope for more people at my funeral and I'm not that popular either

Just went past there and it was dead as a dodo......weather can't've helped tho..... :(

Erm... Well I was there (admittedly most of the time out the back in the Albert ;) and it was packed on coldharbour from what i could see. A bit later on that is.

Very cool vibe in the albert too.. lotsa old faces.

Not so sure about the old rasta geezer out in the garden tho who read a coupla poems about stephen lawrence then shamelessly said '£3' at the end and started hawking his book around. Oh and Aeon. You're a fucking dick.

They've really had it bad with the weather these last... three years, if I remember correctly. Might have something to do with the name!

The Albert wasn't "officially" part of Splash, btw.

Nah i know that. But in reality it was. All the performers used the garden as their dressing room. Very fun. Proper chaos.

I wasn't sure about that either, the poems were ok but it was a shock to have someone trying to flog me a book, they weren't agressive about it though.

i went for an hour or two earlier and had a great time - there was two or three sounds systems pretty packed with people. admittedly the busiest one was under the bridge in pope's road away from the rain! i reckon if it had been sunny it would have been totally packed and a wicked little party, shame about the weather really. i'd say it was fairly busy between about 6pm and 8pm (when it ended) - despite the rain. There were a few coppers about on every corner but not loads - and they didn't seem to mind people smoking puff and drunkenly riding bicycles around!

i hope they do it again next year - how often do we get the streets sealed off to cars and the opportunity to smoke, drink, dance in the streets, choose between 6 fat sound systems and generally lark it up with our neighbours, right in the middle of brixton? i had fun :)

Maybe the Portuguese community - and all the other nationalities that make up Brixton's rich mix - will get to play a part next year too.

I had a good time. The roots sound system under the bridge was pretty good for old gits like me. :D

weatehr ruined it, had a good look around but wasn't many people around.

met for drinks weith friends, left about 5'ish and it looked baout 10 times as busy in chl by that time

just one year when the weather is good would make a big difference, woulda been nice to just mooch about with some cans etc, but it wasn't the weather

Weather was excellent last year. It was a Saturday though. I think holding it on Sunday is a bit shite.

People here couldn't be arsed to go... yet wonder why it's not busy :D:D

The Nation of Islam presence wasn't exactly very inclusive. CHL was fun though with a decent Blacka Dread soundsystem. Elsewhere seemed really, really sparse.
