Brixton Market

I see no longitudinal furrows in the Brixton Market example, so I don't think we'll be rewriting evolutionary history!
That should pretty much kill the thread off. Those things are pretty prehistoric looking to me, anyway.

Brixton market is great! Mrs Magpie showed me around last year. It was a shame as most of the shops were on half-day closing but alot of the stalls were open. The best selection of fish I have seen in ages!

What's the best day to come over when all of the market is open?

  I do wish my husband would log-out when he's finished!

Well tuesdays were tradionally the best day, but if the weather is bad they pack up early, whatever day of the week it is. Saturdays are good too but much busier...btw that is Stobart isn't it?...or was Pot-Bellied Pig hidden in your handbag?

!

Rabbie: Are those really crayfish? I always thought crayfish were little things. Like big prawns. And always peeled: not looking like huge prehistoric fleas.

The man who wrote the trilobite book reckoned they would have tasted like horseshoe crab. A delicacy I have yet to find in Brixton market.

I'm assuming that the big brutes are Australian yabbies rather than any of the Atlantic varieties of crayfish.

You really can't beat a bustling Saturday afternoon especially when the sun is out and it is warm. I'm always taking the little one then when I get the chance.

I haven't got the slightest idea what they are. I just figured they looked like disgusting big slugs.

If it's any help, this picture was taken in Malaysia

Damn - should have checked image properties earlier.

I was starting to salivate at the prospect of "yabbie a la Rabbie" for Sunday Lunch.

But when? Jurassic? Upper Cretaceous? Michael Howard?

It's a photo I found on the internet of something on a Malaysian food stall. If the Malays are anything like the Thais it could be anything.

I figured they were giant slugs  :D

Friday's are the best day for fish as they get stuff in for the Saturday shoppers. If you want scallops, king prawns etc that's the day to look for them. Not as busy as a Saturday either, and you're likely to find more people in the Albert after a hard day's shopping! ;)
