Brixton Doctors

What's all this then?
Iveagh Surgery merging with Myatts Field Medical Practice?

Is this in reality a cut, a takeover or what? From their website it looks like Iveagh Surgery is a bit depleted compared to what it was when it was next to Iveagh House.

Most doctors in Brixton seem overwhelmed to the point of being unable to give appointments. Do the powers that be think the doctors in the Ackerman Centre are over-resourced and in need to be brought in line?

As of yesterday, Stockwell Grp Practice had no appointments to give any earlier than the end of this month (i.e. a fortnight's waiting time.) They were seriously trying to persuade me to ring in every single morning at 8am to see if there were any cancellations if I wanted to get seen before that; or to turn up and wait for an unpredictable number of hours on the offchance of a slot in an open clinic. Luckily it's not anything urgent then, eh?

Tbh you're lucky if you can get those. I'm at Pavillion Practice and you can only get an on the day appointment now. You can't book in advance at all which is a right pain if it's non urgent. Luckily for me I work from home so I can just pick the day that works for me, but if I worked elsewhere it would be a right hassle.

In the unlikely event that someone remembers the name of the Doctor who practised in a ground floor flat at Arlington Loge in the 1970s and early 1980s could they PM me or post up here.

The good Doctor must have been about 80 when he diagnosed my Hepatitis B as flu.

In the process of changing Doctors I had to give the Arlington House doctor a second crack of the whip. In those days the doctor you were leaving had to sign a form to permit you to change doctor!

I recall telling Dr X in desperation "I'm homosexual!" as some kind of justification for being hepatic with bright yellow skin and dark brown piss.

"I don't care if you're double homosexual" quoth the good doctor "What you have is flu"

I am currently in mind-lock with my present surgery on a number of health issues, and I am considering listing the occasions when GPs have been a menace in my life through misdiagnosis and/or inappropriate treatment. The Hep B/Flu situation being one of them.

So is there anyone here old enough to remember the Arlington Lodge Practice? Must have closed down in the early 80s - it was a one man show.
