Britain's Got Talent 2011

Mother was incensed that I phoned during the results. Hard to see what Simon is going to be able to do with Jai. Shame.

I think the little gay lad's gonna win, but I want the Scottish fella to win, or Steven Hall, he was great. Or the Jackson 4, or the albino, I really can't decide.

This post almost makes me wish I'd been watching.

This post almost makes me wish I'd been watching.

It was a terrific night of family variety entertainment, told in 16 swift and choppy segments filmed over a nine month period condensed into one incredible moment with a bewildered amateur and three hundredweight of red glitter confetti.

That line works better with tonnes, who the fuck uses hundredweights? Might as well have said bushels. I'm tired.

We think Ronan didn't win because they had to refix it to make sure he didn't after all the controversy saying that it was fixed that he would. Or something...

I think you'll find that's the Sun headline for tomorrow!!

I'm glad Jai won. You can't give £100,000 to a 12 year old, they would just blow it all on sweets or drugs.

Aaarrghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh, I didn't know Jai had won. You've spoilt it!

I've only just started watching the results.

I'm happy he won though

I think that since the heady days of series one and Paul Potts, the favourite has never won.
Spelbound beat that backwards facing dancing lad last year, Diversity beat Susan Boyle the year before, George Sampson beat Faryl Smith before that.
Seems to be a bad thing to be the favourite on BGT. Doooooooooooooooooooooooomed not to win.

You're reading a live thread before you've seen the show Minnie, you twat!

I didn't know the results had already been on. I've been on the phone for a while. Didn't even realise results were on today. Thought they were tomorrow

So maybe your emotional investment in tonight's result might not have been as great as your spoiler dismay might have potentially at first suggested, perhaps, seeing as you didn't even know when the result was on.

;)

None of them were outstanding. I watched last year's final and thought Diversity really were outstanding.

12-year-old girls won't fancy Ronan - my daughter just saw 'aww' when he was on-screen and thought he was much younger than her. I was just surprised to see that cloning had started 4 years ago and that they used Justin Bieber for the prototype.

would effeminate be a better word to use when talking about the 12 yr old, wasn't aware he had declared him as gay?

I don't think the dancer was albino either, to be completely honest, but that's what you get for using shorthand references in a jaunty, perhaps even a cavalier way.

I can't understand why he butchered that song by missing half of it out. Purely by coincidence I was listening to it yesterday morning, and it's such a beautiful song when sang in full.

Both Ronan's and Jai's songs were really dull. Both got good voices, obviously, but really boring songs to choose.

I liked him too, but I can't imagine a piano player ever winning. I'm sure it's opened up a few doors for him.

Was that pianist self-taught? Because his technique was, by classical standards, appalling. But he clearly had the music within him, like it was controlling him rather than the other way round, and that allowed him to overcome the obstacles that his technique was placing in his path.

I think he taught himself initially but has had lessons. Glenn Gould's technique was a bit odd, so it probably won't hold him back too much - and you get the feeling, like the lad that danced, that it didn't really matter if there was an audience there or not while they were performing (apart from the contrived "look at the audience" they made Paul do).

Remember little Connie Talbot from the West Midlands that Cowell dropped , still only 10 and glad shes still singing , not my sort of stuff but better than the "somewhere over the rainbow" one , quite a powerful voice now for 10 :)
