Brick Lane Coffee make total twats of themselves with vile sign

Or they don't publicise disciplinary action.
Mind you, if you look back through their Twitter stream you'll see that their 'crackies' message hardly stands out as being particularly different to the other "edgy" stuff they post up about.

They only "realised" their "mistake" and apologised when people kicked off a Twitterstorm.

How do you 'mistakenly' post up such deeply offensive drivel in the first place, anyway?
I just saw the pic, and the news of a subsequent apology and gave them the benefit of the doubt. If you are saying the do other stuff, and generally twats, then fuck them.

There was a delightful poster in Forbidden Planet up here a few months back - photo of a bloke, with 'thieving junkie scum'* plastered across the top. Not quite the same thing, but a bit 'wtf'.

*actually it might've been 'thieving smackhead scum'

Was that aimed at a particular individual or just a general labelling of anyone who looks like a down and out addict?

Am I the only one who has visited them? I have a loyalty card... :hmm: They are puerile and silly! Go visit them!

I'm guessing they're very vape-friendly?

no

Corporate sneering attitude also demonstrated by smaller businesses moving into communities and preaching through their edgy banter exactly the kinds of people who are are not welcome in the community. Boycott both obviously?

I don't go there either and I think that one is a battle worth picking.
Sometimes there isn't a choice. I bought a very bad coffee from Starbucks today. We were driving. It was a motorway service station. We were tired and needed coffee.

Given the choice, I'll choose somewhere that isn't a totally bland corporate chain in which the staff are not allowed to do anything 'off-message' at all. The twitter-storm over this place being crass and offensive wouldn't happen against Starbucks or any of the big coffee chains. Their staff don't have the autonomy to make such a mistake.

Starbucks and the like have been a target for dissent for a long while. If they dared to start putting unfunny blackboards outside their shops they would have their arses handed to them. Obviously.

Is it outrage though? People being a bit more discerning about where they spend their money is a good thing.
It would be better if people did their research and looked in to which large corporations are exploitative and unethical, of course, but being basically aware and critical is a good thing.

This. People hate the corporates already...what irks about this shit is that these twats rock up and market themselves as being small, independent, community friendly etc... Which makes it all the more unpalatable that their attitude is so fucking disgusting.

Fair enough.

I can't get upset about these blackboards. Not even the 'crackie' one, which is not funny. It's failed humour with a message I don't like, although its message is no different from those on the tube telling people not to give money to beggars.

You don't think that message sits a little uneasily with this chain's blurb about how their stores are “scattered about the lowbrow areas" because that's "where all the action is”?
