Brentwood Town vs Dulwich Hamlet - Tuesday 12th April

That's bloody annoying. The little line from Upminster to Romford's also shut, which put paid to my "get the bus from Romford" idea.

If anyone is going via Newbury Park you can get as far as there for £1.50 each way on a pay as you go Oystercard as long as you go via Canada Water or Whitechapel on the Overground lines, without passing through Zone 1, AND SWIPE YOUR CARD ON THE PINK READER ON THE OVERGROUND PLATFORM.

I'm thinking of going via Epping and getting the regular service bus 501, which departs hourly at 46 mins past from outside Epping station. This approaches Brentwood from the north and drops you 10-15 mins walk from the ground without having to go into the town centre. (Brentwood station is a good 20 mins walk from the ground.) This bus also passes within walking distance of the White Horse at Coxtie Green, which sounds to be the best real ale pub in the area. I shall probably look to go there after the game.

More engineering works - rail replacement buses between Shadwell and Dalston due to Crossrail works at Whitechapel. So change at Canada Water for the Jubilee Line (use the pink reader there), then again at Stratford for the Central. (I'll be getting on at North Greenwich...)

If you go through the Overground...then Shoreditch is in Zone One AND there are no trains past Shadwell on the Overground. Don't know if that will affect people either.

It now appears the 501 bus service has been discontinued, so Epping looks like a non-starter. It also appears that to get to Brentwood by replacement bus you have to go to Shenfield (30 mins journey from Newbury Park) then get another replacement bus back to Brentwood, taking another ten minutes. Brentwood station is a good 20+ minutes walk from the ground with Shenfield not much further away, so anyone intending to get a cab to the ground will probably find it easier to do so from Shenfield, rather than getting another replacement bus back to Brentwood and a cab from there. What a load of bollocks. And looking at the latest weather forecast there must be a chance the game will be off with the number of home games Brentwood have already lost to the weather this season.

There is a 2pm pitch inspection at Brentwood today and if tonight's game gets called off they will have no more pare midweeks for replays.

Weather forecast looks OK doesn't it? Some heavy rain today but not much else - if it was playable yesterday I'd think it would be on for Saturday.

Depends if anyone spills a drink on the pitch between now and Saturday but yeah, we should be good to go i think.

Out of interest, when was the last time one of our games was called off at CH due to bad weather?

Yeah it must be a fair while. Not this season I don't think.

These are the rail replacement buses from Newbury Park - slow ones which call at all stops (including Brentwood) to Shenfield, and faster ones to Wickford where you can hop off at Shenfield and go back one stop on one of the slow ones. (Unfortunately the ground's a 50 minute walk away from Shenfield, according to Citymapper.) There are also irrelevant buses to Ingatestone.

You pays your money (well, you don't, it's a rail replacement bus) and you takes your choice...

Got 2 spare seats in a rental car from SE24 if anyone needs a lift. Probably work out £15 each splitting it

Could really do with the 3 points here as despite a consistent first half of the season, the annual post-Christmas decline is looking imminent.

Although clearly that dotted line is going to shoot through the roof and we will be crowned champions.
