Brazil v Mexico (Group A) Tuesday 17th June

Nah, final third from both teams was terrible. It's that weird Mexican style. I find it pretty boring, rearing it's head again.

The Mexican keeper, Ochoa, put in a world class performance, so I don't know where you get the final third bit.

According to wiki, Ochoa is currently a free agent. I think he'll be getting a nice signing on bonus come the new season.

Quite polarised opinions between half an hour ago...
It's a bit rubbish this game.
My thinking too...
two skillful teams negating each other
dull match
This is RUBBISH.
Not a very good game.

And now!
Great game
Good game, shame Mexico didn't get a goal, by far the better side.
Very enjoyable match.
great game. proper 0-0.

I agree with the second group of quotes!

by two skillful teams negating each other i meant it was a good clash (for the record)
See what you mean, although I wouldn't necessarily say Mexico were negated, they played to their strengths and could have nicked it. The Mexican keeper played a blinder though, so draw probably a fair result.

but for most of the match all the shots were long shots and neither team could really get a proper flow on the game, though agree mexico had the best of it, but looking at the replays of the chances they still didnt really get that many chances close into the box

Heard that the Mexican manager got banned previously for punching a journalist....let's hope Jonathon Pearce tries to interview him after the game ;)

Edge of seat game - Brazil should have won on account of shooting at the goal a lot more than Mexico. Except Mexico's goalkeeper was outstanding! Also quite nice how intermingled the supporters were - match started really bad tempered but then it settled down to something more civil.

Also, football is what slow motion is for, I can't describe how much I am mesmerised by all the spectacular slow motion collisions and falls, and there were plenty...

I wonder if maybe that's partly why he was so good - he's got more to aim for than just the incoming balls, iyswim.

It wasn't that well played at times, but either team had perfectly good chances of scoring a winner at any moment. I'd rather have some tension than the tiki-taka matches some people splooge over.
You played well, but deserved that yellow card.
