Looking for some good area's to live in Sheffield for a student. I have a unconditional offer for marketing at Hallam, and I will be moving from Liverpool.

Thanks in advance!

I lived in Walkley when I studied there, for two years. Loved it, nice and cheap, hard slog biking up the hills but Sheff's a hilly place. Also lived in Broonhill in a proper Young Ones house. I was at Sheffield Uni though so those places might be a fair old trek to Hallam.

Undergrad of normal undergrad age? If so you might want to do your first year in halls and enjoy all the things that go along with that. Otherwise you'll probably be looking for a shared house which is a little more difficult if you don't know anyone/don't know the city.

Crookes is the default student area... As purves grundy says Walkley is nice, got a few friends living up there. Endcliffe, Broomhall and some of the bits around London road are also popular I think. I live in Kelham island which has a lot of new flat type places, loads of great pubs and a lot of student accommodation but I think relatively expensive. There's also a bunch of student places around the centre, but again quite expensive. Closer to Hallam though (Crookes and Walkley are more convenient for Sheffield university. Not that they're very far apart mind you).
