Only heard about this possibility recently. I might get a new handheld recorder at some point, for field recording as this tech has come on loads.

I’m dabbling in film and presently I have to record in stereo using one of the tracks as a safety channel in case an actor gets excitable and makes the take clip. So it’s a game changer really. But would be good in the field also. An amazing sound that just isn’t quite loud enough? No problem! No idea how it doesn’t raise the noise floor but it genuinely doesn’t. The mind boggles.
